Kitties! My mom has been eating vegetable and fruit all day like she never has had anything so good. She is always a veggie and fruit lover... but because of poor quality for sale for several years she has had to do without fresh fruit and veggies so many times because of the poor quality. Why spend money on foods the taste like sand in water when you could spend the money on ME! Today she got one Heirloom tomato betting that it would be good...not the nasty, hard. dry, hothouse misery out there on the shelves and bins. Even produce that weren't labeled hothouse during the summer have been hard, tasteless and not worth the money. That Heirloom is down for the count. Mom has been eating on it all afternoon. She bough a Bosc pear and tomorrow, despite the awful price per pound she will go back and buy out the rest of them. (seriously) Oh my goodness...GOOD! She also got some Outlast fruit popsicles that to her, are to die for. $$$$ though. Worth it.

Mom loves fresh fruit too, but it’s so disappointing to get yucky tasting fruit, especially since it’s so expensive. She says she’s never disappointed in doughnuts! 😹

dee mum bot sum hareloom tomatoes lass week too, they were berry good.
We have been enjoying a real fruit bonanza in France this summer. We get pears and plums from a friend. We have apples and blackberries in our garden, and # 1 has been buying delicious peaches and nectarines. So, she has a big bowl of cut-up fruit with her breakfast every morning!

I get the feeling that if we were to eat fruit and vegetables from even as recently as a hundred years ago, they would taste so much better, stronger, flavourful than now, because of the factory-production methods used these days.
We both eat a lot of fruit and veg. I have various chopped fruit for breakfast every morning. I grow our own tomatoes which have far more flavour than shop bought ones. We had a bumper crop this year and I made a lot of tomato and basil soup and froze it for the winter. We get our fruit and veg delivered. It comes from a local supplier who gets all his produce from local farms wherever possible.
This is the time of year that fruits and veggies are so good! Glad your mom is enjoying hers.
