Mom and I Need a Vacation After That! (A slight revision has been added)

Kitties!  I got to the v-e-t.  They took me from the car.  Mom was bid goodbye.  I was given 100 mg.   of whatchamacallit! All mom knows is about two and a half hours after she left me ( her not allowed in the Clinic- nor anyone else) she was called and told I said many many HBO words, cussed stylishly, growled and hissed and said some more unsavory things.  I fought too.

Mom was told that they would still try to give me all my shots if they could and burrito me for claw trim.  Mom told me she kept asking on the phone to the v-e-t, about how in the wide world I could do all that (she believed them...just could not figure how when I was packing the gabapentin) with sedative in me that worked great the one time SHE got it into me.

So I came home with no blood work this time as was planned, as they didn't want to torture me; and I'd had a full panel 6 mo. ago.  No real exam....no potty patch.  Just nails and shots.  Almost a bust.  They way they talked to her on the phone, I wasn't even going to get the shots.  But they got it done while mom was on my way.

Now.  When I got home, I ate big as soon as I got out of the PTU.  Then, I staggered to mom and asked to be picked up. She picked me up under my arms and settled me on her lap.  I immediately laid my head on her chest and closed my eyes  and fell deeply asleep.  The gabapentin had finally kicked in.  I slept 6 total hours undisturbed. They had waited 2 hrs., but apparently it wasn't enough.  Mom put me on my recliner after half an hour on her lap and that is where I slept my 6 hrs.

I slept with mom though at night.  ON her head. I needed that.

Here is a picture mom took when she laid me in my recliner.  My head was down and my face buried except the mustache side was up facing.

It was a bad bad bad day for me...and Mom too.  Next time they will likely wait a bit longer.  I hope I will recover from this because I had just started acting nicer while there the last 2 times.. They thought Mom should have been there.  MOM thought so too but they wouldn't let her.

Oh.  I lost 6 oz.  since August 2019.  Mom helped with that by giving me just enough dry food to cover the bottom of the bowl 1 layer (medium sized) and premium wet food 2 times a day.  I eat it all.  I have been more active too.

Last night

Air Lily, with Lily flying the pink jet, gathered up all my Twitter Pals, the woofies and kitties, and brought them to the Vet's office to hold my paws.  But they all landed just before momma got me.  It was so good to see them!

You have such a rough time, I am so sorry. It shouldn't be this way for any cat.

On the plus side, I like that you cussed stylishly.

You poor baby. The good news is that this is all in the rearview mirror and you came out of it like a champ. I bet your mom loved when you napped with her.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, Katie. This is a rough time for kitties like you, when the vets can't let the humans in because of the virus. :-(

I am sorry you had a rough time of it, Katy, but at least you put up a good fight. Sounds like you had a really good snooze when you got home too.

Awww, Katie, what an ordeal for you and your mom. :-/

I know vet clinics aren't allowing humans in with their pets, but it seems, with the right precautions (mask, gloves for your mom), that sometimes exceptions should be made. Lots of purrs from Derry. ♥

Katie, your example has me wondering what it will be like to take formerly-feral Sweetie to the vet; she doesn't cotton to handling either!

Oh what a horrid time you had you poor girl! You really do HATE being at that place don't you. I'm sorry you didn't get your bloods checked though because being a lady of a certain (cough cough) age, you NEED that done. I'm glad you are recovering from your experience though. Just rest and recover. It's never fun going to THAT PLACE but Mom tells me that it's a "necessary evil".......I think she's got the EVIL part right but beg to differ on the NECESSARY stuff.

Love, Teddy

What a tough girl you are KI. Going to the vet without your mama waiting there is difficult. That medicine is TOO SLOW! Ugh! You and your mama really do need a relaxing rest after that. Try to put it out of your minds.

Love and licks,
Cupcake

Dearest Katie Isabella,
That sure did not go well... guess they were in a hurry and with that ruined it all!
Having their way and not knowing the kitty themselves, as a Mom sure does.
Glad you slept so well afterward and hope you forget about it...
Hugs,
Mariette

I know you are brave and were fighting for your life so you would see your Mom and brovvers again. Being there for those 2 hours ahead of time, working up your nerves, could not have been much fun either. Praying for us all that next time the Coronavirus will have gone away enough that Mom can go with you.

Katie san, I'm so sorry you had such a hard time...and not all of things planned for the visit could be done. It must be heartbreaking for your mom. Sending purrs to you both. I hope your future visits will go better. xo

You are such a sweetie. I can't imagine your being difficult at the vets, they clearly don't know what they are doing. I am glad my vet is still allowing us in with our pets even if it is against protocol. XO

Oh Katie, we are so sorry things did not go well. We can imagine what a nervouse wreck Mom must have been for those two + hours. Hopefully Mom will be able to be with you by the time you need to undergo another such ordeal.

Oh, Katie. Maybe you were just too stressed for the drug to work right. Although, if it gives you any consolation, our mom suffers from the same kind of delayed response (like, Oh, you can feel that? at doctors' and dentists' offices). Once, when she got a shot in her spine for a disk problem (which she felt, much to the doctor's dismay), the pre-shot pain killer didn't start to work until she was driving home--and her bum and right leg fell asleep!

That's lovely Katie..!x
What could be nicer than a 'pink' jet..! :o).

Poor baby :( This virus is causing a nightmare for everyone and everything.

Mark's Mews (Ayla, Marley, and Laz) said...

Oh Dear Katie! We are so sorry the vet didnt wait long enough for the sleepy-drug to werk properly and that you didnt get some of the things they should have done fer yer healthiness... At least you got a long calming nap when you got home. We go right out with sleepy-shots, but Dad says he gets delayed too. Not by as much as you or yer Mom, though. WOW!

John Bellen said...

Well, of course your mum should have been there. Without a loving human there to trust, a cat is going to feel unsafe. The vets should know better; there hgas to be a way to allow cats' people in with them, even with this health crisis.

Miss Katie Isabella, you make us proud! Most of us are pretty good with the v-e-t. Daisy doesn't fight so much, but she gets scared and starts panting. She had a time getting her senior work up done. It took three visits and an overnight stay because something was going on deep inside her ears.

We are glad you got plenty of rest once you were home! Sleeping is one of our favorite things to do.

Purrs,
Angel Clarissa & Co.
