Kitties! It was the worst of days, it was the horribilist of days.
I was asleep in my PTU from 8 am till time to leave at 1115. Mom just closed the door and off we went. I didn't say anything. Never do. Mom does not like me to remain in one place like that so long and put it down to not being well.
The new place was wonderful. Strictly a kitty entrance, and no encounters with woofies. They took my paperwork, and a tech came in to assess my fear level. Off the charts.
Long story short, when the Vet came in, mommy found her extremely nice. I was frozen with fear though they tried giving me treats, some baby food, sat on the floor with me still in my PTU... and there was a pawsome tree in there I could have used if I would have come out.
Mom lifted me out of the PTU to reduce stress and my sounds were better since it was mommy. I was handed to the vet. She was still on the floor. I was so hyper stressed they only tried to trim my overly long nails (as I have been hurting mom). The other place I went never did an adequate job trimming. I showed signs of being too stressed so the vet did not want to stress me further so we had to call it quits. The plan is to sedate me two hours before I go to the next appointment so I can be fully examined and assessed. Whoever that tech was at my old place..the only two times I had to be handled by her...really did a number on me. I was fine until those last 2 visits. You never heard me meow about anything.
Mom is very saddened she has to do this, but I must have an exam and senior profile and a dental. So sedate for now will be the name of our new game. That makes her very sads.
The Clinic is top notch.

Katie, please tell your mom that she doesn't need to be sad, since she must keep you healthy. She cannot change your purrsonality, and this visit was sort of a trial run for the next time. A little bit of sedation is okay, and you MUST have this work done. We all know how she feels, and we all give her and you big hugs and purrs.
I agree with the Eastside Cats, Katie, you are who you are and there's no reason for your mom to be sad about that. Better to have light sedation and just get the work done. BTW, sometimes I feel that *I* would benefit from light sedation when I have to take the cats to the vet, because *I* find it so stressful! :-D
Katie brofur Rumpy Bump recently started getting very wiggly when he needed his annual xray for his asthma. He also would not allow a sanitary trim or nail trim. We decided to get him what he needed and get a lion cut at the same time. He is happy with that but I dont think you need that. Einstein is getting his lion cut this coming week it worked out so well with Rumpy. Purrs that you will start to relax dear friend
The new Vet place sounds like a nice one sweet Katie but the Mom has to do what the Mom has to do to keep you healthy, love does that so all will be okay.
The new v e t place sounds so much better than the last one. As others have said a little bit of sleepy meds will help you get through the visit. Purrs!
Oh dear, dear, dear, that WAS a terrible day. I'm glad you got through it okay sweet lady. I’m just saying hi, stopping in to see how you are doing and to show my face. I hope you are okay now and everything is going well.
I Wish you a wonderful weekend!
The new vet place sounds nice with caring and gentle vets. Tell your mum not to worry about the light sedation. It will just make you feel a bit sleepy and more relaxed.
Dearest Katie Isabella,
It sounds sad but still it is necessary for your own goodwill.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
We're sorry this is happening to you, Katie but we are happy you're getting checked out so you can stay healthy. Angel went to the vet yesterday and sang the song of her people all the way there but while there, she enjoyed all the attention. She's a diva.
Purrs,
Isabella
That does sound like an amazing clinic. I am sorry you have to be drugged, but it will be safer for you than being stressed. XO
Katie, that sounds like a wonderful place and we're glad your mom found it. We think that eventually you won't need any sedation at all! In the meantime, we say it's more than OK if it helps you.
Oh Katie dearest, I'm so sorry you had such a hard time at the old vet place. I do hope that the new one will help you get back to unstressed and, if not happy about it, at least comfortable with your visits.
Leo says: Lemme at that old tech, I'll get her with all my claws and fangs and teach her not to mess with the prettiest girlkitty around! Grrrrrrr And, well, if you gotta go to the v.e.t., being sedated might not be the worst way to go... I'll be over to comfort you with purrs and ear licks before you can shake your pretty tail!
With a cat tree like that, it must be a great cat clinic! But we’re sorry you were still so stressed out, Katie. We think sedating you beforehand might be a good idea. Zoey takes 100mg of gabapentin about two hours before going to the vet and it helps to relax her so the vet can handle her.
I know this is very hard on you. Toby got to where he really hated the vet. But these people seem very nice.
I can't imagine how hard it must be on your Mom - to make that choice to sedate you. At least it sounds like you found a better vet. Maybe your fear will wear off in time?
While it was a terrible ordeal for you, Katie, the new hospital is a tremendous improvement over the old, and I think, over time, you will grow more at ease with it. In the meantime, your mum and the doctors will see that you are given the best care.
They have a CAT TREE at the vet clinic? Katie, you much learn to love this place - it sounds awesome!
I think you are furry brave Miss Katie, and your momma loves you so much. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Katie the BESTEST news is that the new vet place - even though it takes a while to get there - is very kitty friendly and gentle. That's just what you need. Even if you have to have a little "calming treatment" before you go - you will do JUST FINE. Best of all, your Mom and your new vet can find out just how you are by examining you as they need to. I know it's not FUN but it's so impawtant - we want to make sure you are HEALTHY as well as happy!!
Hugs, Teddy
You have to start somewhere with new vet’s houses, KI. This is a good start as vets go... A little sedation will break that cycle of fear and then you will be fine. I just know it. And I know a LOT about fear, trust me!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Katie Isabella...wonderful news about your new vet and I am 100000% positive they will win your confidence after a few visits. I like the little cat calming machine they had.
Thank goodness for your very own entrance. My vet had two entrances too most impawtant
Hugs Cecilia
Well, it does sound like a terribly bad day, but we are happy it is a good, new vet place. If sedating is what needs to be done, it will be okay for you to get all those things done. We were hoping that cat tree was your prize for surviving the visit. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
So glad the new vet was better for you - maybe you will feel better with time, because you do need to get your wellness check. Purrayers and POTP.
So good to read that you like the new place
We are so glad the new clinic is a good one, Katie. Please tell Mom not to be sad. She is doing what she needs to do to keep you healthy and happy. That is wonderful, and that is love. XO
It's sad you are so stressed at the vet now. We know your mom only wants the best for you, so trust her to take care of your health.
We hope it will get better soon for you. Mommies sometimes have to make hard choices and they do what they think we really need. It does sound like a better place.
Well, I'm glad that you at least prefer this new clinic.
