Color me sads

Mom can't quit coughing at all. All night long and from afternoon to bedtime and onward through all night she continues...the worst ever. The little prescriptive cough suppressant med patients call pearls is not working.  Commonly called pearls, just so you know.  Useless as TicTacs or Fancy Feast.

Last night though it was her worst ever in these two weeks hacking. I laid up close to her back even during the storm she was creating I stayed.  When she gave up in the wee hours and sat up in bed, covering up with a sheet, I left her a bit and come back and laid by her leg, keeping her warm and safe during the coughing storm.  When she got up at 6, she was touched deeply to see I had not only brought Donkey-- I had tried my best to get him into the bed with us.  He fell from my mouth right where my springing up place is at the bed corner. I laid close all night despite all the awful sounds and movement.  I won't leave her.  I have to help her if I can.

Mom so wishes she knew how to stop that coughing.  Her throat, sides, ribs, and lower abdomen hurt as well as her back and head from constant coughing.

Sorry to make a Nursing report.  They get boring.  WE had to ask Admiral to appear from the other side of the veil and teach me how to nurse mom as I don't even have a cap to show my authority.

Happy to help Mommy for Sisfur this time

He is Mom's and me, Katie's,  bestest furriend ever ever.

Poor Mom, it sure is time that she stop that coughing now. Sure wish her medicine would start working. We sure send many many more purrs. Got all our paws crossed for her. Take care.

Purrs and purrs and purrs. The last time my mommy coughed like that she had pneumonia! I hope what ever makes your mommy cough goes away faster!

Katie, you must have known how very sick Mommy was feeling. Calling in Admiral even. That Donkey sure is well loved. I will say some powerful purrs for healing. Might she have caught whooping cough? My doctor sister is convinced she caught it once at the hospital, even though she had all the shots.

We had hoped your mom's cough was getting better instead of worse so we're sending mega purrs for her to get well soon! Our mommy once broke a rib from coughing due to pneumonia so we know how important it is for your mom's cough to go away!

we are so sad and worried that Mommy's cough is not getting better, Nurse Katie! We will keep on purring and praying really hard, okay? Love and hugs to you both.

I am sorry your mum is still coughing so bad Katie. My mum suffers a lot with bronchitis and knows how miserable it makes your mum feel. Many a night she has spent in the recliner rather than lay in the bed. She sends good thoughts for her to soon get an improvement, and I send purrs.

We are purring even harder for your Mom to stop coughing.
We know it is wearing her out.
You were good to summon Admiral and bring donkey to her.
Keep us posted on how your Mom is doing Katie.

Oh- No!!!! Did they check her for pneumonia!? I have had this off and on since Thanksgiving. I had BACTERIAL pneumonia and then when that left I had a bronchial infection....that came and went. It is SO hard to stop the coughing and there is a reflex that once you start it is a trigger and it is hard to stop. xo Diana

That's not a good report Katie! We think your Mama should make a trip to the doctor's to see what can be done. That is too long a time to be coughing! We are sending you both big hugs.

Aw poor dear Katie! We feel your pain! We've had it around here, and in a lot of our family, too. It's awful and lasts so long! We're purring and praying for your mommy.
Leo says: I feels for ya, Katie! Lemme know if you need a break from nursing duties and I'll pop over for a visit and I'll swipe some treats for us too. Someone needs to care for the caregiver too, right? Purrrrr

If you get worse before you get better, then last night will be the turnaround. I think you were very brave to stick with Mom through the storm, KI. Hang in there.

Pearls are useless! The only thing that stops my bad coughing is cough syrup with codeine. If your mom isn't allergic to it, she might demand it. However, if your state is like ours, you may need a legislative act to get a prescription for it :(

ANGEL ABBYGRACE said...

Oh dear Katie we were hoping your Mommie would be all well! But we have to agree with her any of that cough medicine just doesn't do a thing for us and we know constant coughing is very hard. We will purr today is a better day for her and you too.

Admiral was adorable, such a cute nurse. I am sorry your Mommy is so sick, but how sweet of you to help her. I wonder why nothing is helping. Did she have an x-ray to be sure it isn't pneumonia? I am praying for her.

Aaaaaaw Sweet Katie weez so sowry yous mommy not be feeliin' so good. Those pearls awen't a very big helpp. Yous mommy kuld twy sum OTC like nyquil or da generic. Or she kuld also use a little (and we do mean litte) Peppermint oil dropped in da back of hers fwoat. She will fink she's gone to da He dubble hocky sticks place, but it will deaden hers fwoat and stop da coughin' fur a while. Weez'll be purrayin'.

Oh, we're so sorry to hear that your mommy is still having hack attacks, even WITH Donkey nearby. My mom's been known to sleep in a chair when that happens to her, but it doesn't sound like that would work for your mommy. Maybe you need to get her to the mom fix-it place!
