Kitties! I came howling down the hall in the deep dark nite nite time last night and did a super job of waking mom. I was loud..I was persistent, and again, I was loud. Mom gave up and called me. I kept right on with exceedingly loud honking and snorting in the dark. Mom kept calling me. I came into the bedroom, still darker than a cup of coffee if I drank that stuff (she does!!) and finally shut up. Mom said "come 'mere". I jumped up and walked to her head. I snuggled into her neck and shoulder. This morning, she saw it was DUCKY who came in! I sure announced him spectacularly! I haven't bought Ducky in years!! All my main toys are in the living room waiting for me. I never bring any from my own room aka the computer room. Wow. That sure got her lively there for a little while.
Mom said the new front door will be here Saturday a.m. It won't be installed till Monday. In a little house like this, it's to be leaning against the wall somewhere in the house till installation day and that is going to be awful.
Mom said she has some no-fun-at-all appointments through the week. Just two of those. But a welcome visitor for several hours tomorrow. I think I'm cold. I know Mom is. The thermostat for the new unit is set at 74 but mom is wearing a flannel nightgown, but just under a percale sheet..no blankie. And a flannel shirt sometimes in the day time. Never been that way. Think the old dead HVAC must have been blowing overly warm air when A/C was required and overly cool warm air in the winter. Mom had to keep messing with the thermostat. A new indoor thermometer is coming over night so we will see what the temp really is in here! She said getting out of the shower each day is like going into polar air. Tiny bathroom and boy! The cold air blowing on a wet person is not fun. I guess I'd rather this than that horrible three days and nights of heat and humidity in the house that we endured a few weeks ago.

I'll be seeing you over at your place after awhile. I get to be on mom's lap regardless of her circumstances starting at 5pm. I don't even feel sorry for her. It's all about me.

Sweetheart, sounds like you were singing the song of our people to Ducky! Good for you! My mom keeps a little heater in the bathroom even in the summertime. Too chilly when she gets out! Hope your mom’s appts are quick & easy! 5pm is the purrr-fect time for “lap time”❣️ Licks & sniffs, Kat
Ducky! That was some special delivery sweet Katie! Hooray for lap time!!!
Mudpie loves to sleep nestled on my neck and shoulder too! Being chilly like that sounds wonderful :)
Katie, humans must bow to what the cat wants, to keep singing!
How nice of you to announce Ducky. Make sure that door doesn't fall on you before it gets installed. XO
It sounds like you are very proud of Ducky again.
I hope everything works out well with getting the door installed.
As for the thermostat, well, at least you don't have to fight with another person about what temp to set it.
Wow, your delivery service sure was loud and vocal!! MOL!
Hope the door thing gets all done without any glitches...and don't tell us later that your tripped over it while it was waiting to get installed. Don't hide behind it either, Katie...that would scare your Mom, I think.
Good luck with the ac temp regulation...
You found a new and exciting way to wake up your mom. I hope you enjoyed the duck. Good luck
Oh my, Katie, you can be active at night for sure! I have a night walker kitty girl who loves to come park upon me in the night hours, too! Hopefully everything with your new door, and your thermostat, will be sorted out soon!
Meant to say, Love the Katie Grandma picture!
Wowzers Meowzers - things have been NOT QUITE RIGHT with that thermostat and you ladies' comfort level so hopefully SOON that will get fixed. We all have a right to be comfy and cozy in our homes - YES?? New front door will be nice too as long as its' installed right.....! We have paws and fingers crossed for "all of the above" !

Katie, I guess you were singing the song of ducks when you came in the middle of the night waking up your mommy. Since she hadn't heard ducky sing for a long time she must have forgotten what he sounded like! I think if I were you I might have mommy reach up there on that thermostat and take it off of 74 and put it on something a little nicer like 78. I know you're waiting on the new portal to be installed.
Katie, you were full of beans! 😁😻
Carole, good luck with the door, and with your appointments. ❤️
yur gram mawz a gorgeouz gal …doez her like ta shop for hand bagz 🐾🖤🤍🤍🤍🖤‼️😸
Oh no Katie Isabella mom has to take a polar dip in the shower...brrrrrr.
I hope and purr the new unit is just getting settled and will soon know your desired room temperature
Hugs Cecilia
Well, if Ducky hadn't made an appearance in years, then he deserved such an announcement, right? And messed up heating and cooling is not fun. It's odd how little things can mean a difference. I had to wash the bedspread one night because I'd discovered someone had had an accident on it. The blanket was fine, but the bedspread acts like another blanket, and I was cold that night, even though all other conditions were the same as other nights. And Katie, should we start calling you Elton Isabella?
Wow, Katie! You brought Ducky??? What a wonderful surprise! We hope the door installation goes smoothly. Sorry it's got to be leaned up somewhere inside for a few days, though. We also hope you can get the air conditioning situation figured out. It's not fun being cold all the time. Love to you both!
Charlee: "Our Dada would rather be too cool than too warm in the house, too! He says he can always drape a blanket over his shoulders or put on a sweater, but there's only so much you can take off. Which apparently goes double for work when you work in an office ..."
Chaplin: "We're sure your Mom appreciated the visit from Ducky! Sounds like a special occasion that definitely rated a wake-up call!"
That was so sweet of you to bring Ducky, sweet Katie. We can picture how you dragged it🥰Good Luck with the AC and the door. Hope it get fixed asap🙏🏼Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend to you and your mommy too🐾😽💞
This is the absolute cutest thing ever and reading it completely made my night. The whole story about howling down the hallway in the pitch black just to spectacularly announce a toy you haven't played with in years is so typical for a cat and honestly hilarious. Your mom waking up totally confused only to realize it was Ducky is such a funny image, especially with you taking full credit for getting her up. I hope the new front door does not take up too much space while it is leaning around this weekend, and that the new thermometer helps sort out that freezing polar vortex situation after the shower. You have the most wonderful, comforting way of sharing these little daily updates, and you should definitely enjoy every single second of that mandatory 5pm lap time because you deserve it.
I am sure Ducky was pleased to make such an entrance
Katie, how come the big fuss in the night when it could have waited until morning?
Tell Mom, our AC freezes me to in the bathroom, even with the door closed and steam in the air. I drop flannel over me to dry off, I don't own a robe, we live in Florida. The thermometer will tell the truth. our 4 year old AC unit since day one, set on 77 the room is 73. I have to add/subtract heat/cold to know what to set it on. hope yours is not like mine. all that MATH is my worst subject
Thanks for the comment today. I have been posting every day since 2009 but the past 3 months I am down to 1 a week and sometimes not that. Caregiver for 90 year old man and 13 year old dog and I am 81, is a tough job and it takes me a while to do yard and house and all the other stuff.
Katie, that was sweet of you to bring Ducky in to see Mom. Does he feel the cold like her? Have you got the door installed yet? Are We asking too many questions (mol)?
Say, Katie, my dad guzzles the coffee, too. I think it's his life blood after consuming it daily for almost 50 years. We just got a new storm door put on and the, umm, person who installed it did such a sh*tty job that it has large gaps at the top, bottom and latch side. Dad called the landlord and sent him photos, and his response was, "Okay, I'll take it down." Can you say "slum lord"...
So … a new door and a ducky for your mom. Mau always announced when he brought his toys into the room and night. After he became an angel, Cooper started doing it. He was always Mau’s protege. Misty May was our caterwauler at night, and when she got her wings, C.J. Took over that responsibility. Katie, we feel badly that you are solely responsible for all the cat duties at your house.
