A Turnabout for Me.

Kitties, for the past several months I have been not eating hardly any of my wet foods.  Mom bought the Royal Canin (which I used to be wild for)  as well as my Fancy Feast. And while I used to like the large variety of both  brands, again, I refused to take more than a literal mouthful.  I'd lay there by the dish.  Mom worried.  Of course.

Four days ago as she stood there wishing she knew what was wrong (and knowing I wasn't getting my probiotics since I refused to eat my wet foods) and she made the decision to crack open a can of totally different food from another maker she'd never bought from before  and in a different flavor combo than I every had- and in a pate which I have always said I don't care for.  I like morsels and chunky meats.

Anyway, she has always kept a way different flavor and sometimes maker of food in my cabinet.  Just one.  Just in case.  If I hadn't eaten this one after taking it out several months after she bought it (she was careful of dates), she would have tossed the remainder of the fairly expensive can of food and gone back to worrying.

Here is what happened, Kitties:

And that was pate...which I did NOT Like ever.  And a really odd combo of flavors.  It was their "wild" variety.   I haven't horked it up either- except once last evening when I ate so fast, it's no wonder.

Just one more "you never know" in my life.  Expensive food (more so than FF)  but worth it.

That face I made in yesterdays picture does NOT apply.  I love this stuff.

Katie, almost nothing else makes a human go nutso, than their beloved cat NOT EATING! It's good to know that you've got a good meal or two in your belly...now KEEP IT UP, and KEEP IT DOWN, if you know what I mean!

Sometimes it just takes something different to get our attention, I'm sure glad you ate it up sweet Katie!

Keep her guessing Katie! We love our pate, though sometimes Saku eats it too fast too and horks it up.

That is good news. XO

Let us guess...You'll like it until your mom stocks up on it, then refuse to ever eat it again. (Which is what we often do!)

That's really "you never know" instance! I'm glad you loved the food, Katie san! (And your bowl is adorable!)
Goro sometimes eats so fast and horks up his food, too...!

Jenna and Marie demand a vast variety of flavors. They'd never be happy with just a few. We're glad your mom found some food that you like...we can't have hungry kitties!

I am glad you liked it and cleaned your dish right up, Katie. Maybe you are now a pate convert. The boys wouldn't eat pate either and always preferred chunks.

Thank goodness for that, Katie. We humans always worry when our cats don't eat. I'm going through that with three of mine. But what a joy it is to us when a dish is cleaned like yours.

Dearest Katie Isabella,
Bandido is on my lap and I hope he did not see your beautiful dinner plate!
WOW, they all six will want to have one just like that...
How wonderful that you loved the new can.
Price is only part as we have always to step back and see the entire picture.
Health & Happiness and less barfing (cleaning makes the food expensive too...)...
Hope this works out.
Hugs,
Mariette

Katie Isabella, you and Bear must be siblings separated at birth because I'm having this exact problem with him. He doesn't usually like pate either - just one FF variety - and now he's turning his nose up at that. I was really worried something was wrong - but he still ate the Squeeze-ups - so any night he refused his wet food treat, I'd give him two Squeeze-its a couple hours apart. Maybe you'll eat that? Not exactly balanced nutrition - but I've been in the difficult spot of hepatic lipidosis before - where not eating becomes even more not eating so I realize getting food down is sometimes the breadth of the battle - and that little bit may be enough to not get into that horrible spiral. You can read more here: https://www.hartz.com/product/hartz-delectables-squeezeup-with-chicken. They also come in a tuna flavor at our grocery store. New foods are very tenuous with Bear ... for the most part, I don't even try anymore with him. He gets most of his nutrition from kibble, so that's okay.

Katie, our mom says her girls were all notoriously picky at some point (or points) or other--she just got sort of used to it. Like you, they would just turn up their noses at food they once loved, just out of the blue! Us boys, never a problem!

Katie, I know kittehs enjoy the game of making their pawrents play musical foods, but please eat nicely. Otherwise it's off to the Stabby Place and no one wants that.

I guess you just need plenty of variety!

YAY!!!! I think humans forget that we (like them) actually DO change our minds sometimes - about our foods, our toys, EVERYTHING. You were just tired of the "same old stuff" right? Well, now you've made that known, I'm sure your Mom will keep you interested in your foodables with some surprises now and again. Yep - we do love surprises........

Hugs, Teddy

Yippee for Pate! We have to admit we're wild for the stuff. Some of us used to hate it but something clicked for us too and now, yep, Dad doesn't have to wash our bowls if he didn't want to. We lick them clean! (Dad really does wash our bowls twice a day!)

Well done, KI. You really know how to keep your mom on her toes. I think my mom would have a mental breakdown if I didn't eat my foods. I haven't missed a meal or a treat in 9 years! Plus, today, I tried to eat the carrot nose off a snowman...

We sometimes turned up our nosies at pate canned food lately. And even the "morsels" type wasn't much to chew. TBT had been off dry food for years thinking it was not good for us, but he bought a quality bag. Now we eat our canned stuff because we know there will also be some crunchies the next time and we like the change from one to the other.

And he has started doing "the crunchy toss" while he sits and eats his dinner. He tosses one to each of us, waits a minute, and then tosses more. It is fun to chase them. And of course ta eat them!

Hooray! Now that's a great kind of turnaround, Katie. You keep eating your wet foods, okay, sweet girl?

Oh, yes. The life of a gourmet kitty pawrent! I know it well. Daffy will now only eat FF broths and Friskies L'il Soups. The only time she will eat her FF Filet Mignon food is when we are fast asleep.
