Kitties, I got through the eclipse very well. I wish my mom had been in here with me though. I'll show you what *I* had to contend with while she was lallygagging out there in the heat and suns. She was watching the entire town turn dark with night. The street lights came on, and the night time insects were singing. Our totality here where I live and meow was just half a minute, so it was fast-- but so thrilling mom said. It was so odd having nighttime at 2:30 in the afternoon. Here's what I had to see. and
no mommy to make me feel better. Finally she came in.

That is so cool, Katie. We only had about 80% totality and it didn't get dark here.
My mommy watched it with those funny glasses very close to the totality in Woodburn, OR, just 20 miles from the main totality in Salem, OR and she saw about a minute or so only of darkness. But watching the sun get covered up by the moon, the long shadows and spooky feel in the meantime was very cool. And then when the moon covered up the sun and you could see the actual flames from the sun was awesome. And that bright ring around the moon was pretty cool also. She told me all about it. Then her usual 1 hour drive home took her 2 1/2 hours to get home to me! That was not good!
Unfortunately I was home and an hour north and only saw it got dark, then light again. Plus I wasn't allowed to look because I didn't have the glasses. Sigh. Patzy

Wow, you got really dark there! We got kinda twilight-y, but not dark dark. Were you scared? Leo would have held your paw! Extra toes, extra comforting!
Leo says: What mom said! I can still come hold your paw, if you're still suffering after effects?
Oh Katie it only got "twilight-ey" here and not totally dark but Mom and Dad saw it while I was sound asleep. Darn. I missed it. Not sure it made any difference anyway because for ME, sleep is way more important than a 'clipse!

WOWZA!! It got SUPER dark where you are!! Ours just looked like an eerily cloudy day (because we only had about 80%)......yours was AMAZING!
It didn't get very dark where we are, and I doubt that our kitties even noticed anything different. :-)
It turned into nighttime here too - one of us didn't notice through closed eyes, the other was wondering why Mommy was outside looking up into the sky! Glad your mom enjoyed it!

We envy you the eclipse. Our partial eclipse went just as we expected. Cloudy and we couldnt even tell anything was happening.
