If I am Lucky!

Kitties!  Woofies!!

If I am lucky, this handsome gentleman will ring the bell and I will open the door and find this study in love out there waiting, just for me.  Tell me who would not be enchanted?  He is a dream come true.

Granny said something today on a comment for the last blog that BOTH girls meowed at me two nights ago.  I thought if anyone did, it was Katie.  I however agree with Granny .  Both are loved and knew it...so both spoke to let me know I was still loved despite not having either in the bed with me.

My car at the body shop is ready today at 3:30.  I managed to round someone up to take me there to pick it up.   That is a full day earlier than I was told.  Can't beat that with a stick.

I'm comfy, asleep and in charge.

Who Woulda Thought?

Kitties!  Woofies!  This is both of us here.  Angel Katie and Mom.

Guess what?  Mom has already told several dear friends already this morning that last night as she was sleeping..she was awakened by a semi loud "meow".  She didn't just open her eyes, she was jolted awake so to speak, (with the resultant faster- for- a- few- seconds, heartbeat.) Then another meow, total of two...slightly less loud.  Normal "conversational" tone by cats.  Not a screech.  The first was meowed with an upward seeming tilt at the end, and the second one following right behind the first, was as if there was a period at the end.  So, like a question and then,  a reply.

I lay there galvanized for a few minutes wondering how and why and what.  I fell asleep while wondering it seems.

I will swear I heard the two meows differing in tonal quality.  It jolted me awake.  And I was. Awake I mean.

To those who want to know, I am doing alright for all that has happened.  The pain of it will come in  waves several times in the day.  It is a fact of life that a beloved pets passing is unspeakably hard to deal with.

Happy Sunday everyone.  And heartfelt thank you's for each and every single message or comment  or letter with your heartfelt offering of love and care.

Hit It On the Nail Head

Kitties, Mom and I saw something on Face Book.  We made a screen shot of it to share here.  Mom said she has never seen the reason for the deep sadness when explained in such a way as this one I am posting.

Mom has family, kids, friends, all of that but:  The cartoon, if we want to call it that, explains why singletons as she has been for a while, might suffer pet family loss on a different level.

Love and headbonks...side rubs too, more headbonks and purrs to you all.  That's from me.  Mom just said she would keep her dignity and spare you  those from her---and keep them from me from me~

Good Meowning

Kitties and Woofies, not a lot going on today but here I am!  Here we are, me and Mom.

Night before last,  about half an hour before bedtime-- and Mom was reading a new book.  Silent in the living room, which was lit by one lamp.  So...reading along, she felt the quick brush of fur against the front of her calf.  A common thing each day.  She lowered the book to acknowledge who her mind thought was me.  That was something that I did as I came from down the hall and up to mom ready to be picked up...or invited to climb up the recliner foot platform.  But I wasn't there to be seen.  It was so real she said next day to a friend.  The feeling of fur going by as usual was so genuine seeming.  It was shocking to her that I wasn't there to be picked up, hugged to her chest, smooched all over and talked to.

But it wasn't saddening.  That it wasn't, surprised her.  Me...I am alright...there are many furriends I have seen and  that I play with as well as my sisfur in the fur, Admiral.  Mom will still say "Good Morning" when she sits up...and still say "Mom is home" when she comes back home.  And "I love you" sometimes.

Today is selfie day.  I will use pictures I can find in Mom's albums.

Home Again. All of you are balm to mom's heart.

Kitties, this is meant to be a good post, not one of sorrow.  Katie came home this early afternoon.  She has taken up a place next to her sisfur, Admiral.

She was a beautiful girl, so she chose a beautiful resting place.  I wish I could have found one like that for my Admiral.

Oh!  Admiral said to tell you that her actual name back when she was 3 months old and Mom found her in a parking lot,  became Lady Bianca.  The kids couldn't stand that...so they re-named her Hester.   MSNLive Spaces friends in her blogging there re-named her Admiral and she came to the CB with that name. Her urn will say if you look, Hester.   But she has been Admiral for so many years, I automatically call her that.  This was for those who may see her urn and wonder at the name.

My little girl is home now.  She is where she belongs.  And she is in the bedroom that the now, three of us, have shared for a long time.  I take great comfort knowing they are home.  And the love they had the entire time they were with me is still the same.  Strong and true.

Here she is...welcomed home with Mom again.  Thank Goodness.

Having a sunbath in her favorite window you have seen her in so often

With her sisfur Admiral

One for each baby.

Kitties!

Kitties!  Look what appeared from the Bridge only today!!!  Three of the best friends ever was!!!  Having tea at the Bridge!

Those feminine girls!  Goodness knows they are probably still gossiping about their mancats as well as who did what right there at the Bridge.  You might remember how all three were in their homes and the CB back when Admiral was still here and hootin' and hollerin'.

The vision of them was sent to me, Angel Katie, this very meowning by Nelly Belly's Momma, Barb K. at Cats-astrophicEvents!  Soon as I get to Admiral's place there a few house over,  I will show her this!!  Oh, the memories she will have to tell me about.  Have to get Spitty and Austin in on this!

Nelly Belly, me and Admiral.  High Tea!

The Reality of Everything

 Dear dear furriends and Parents,

Thank you from my heart for everything you have written.  Your words are truly a comfort in a terrible time.  Know that I will read and re-read. Many times.

I will bare my heart again, as I always seem to do when it comes to Katie, and tell you I have not felt so alone before.  And I will tell you that last evening when I sat in my preternaturally clean sparse seeming living room reading, Just above the book I could have sworn I saw Katie walking as always, across the room in front of the dining table on her way to the kitchen for some dry crunchies and a drink.  And a little later as I prepared for bed in a bedroom that was only utilitarian and had no love in it...I got in without anyone waiting at the "passenger side" trying to get on my chest before I was even FLAT on the bed for pete sakes! I turned out the light and laid there but after a few minutes I swear to you I felt the little trembling at the foot of the bed when she got onto it in the night from the chest at the foot of the bed.  Up her steps, and then, onto the chest , then onto me.  I felt the wee movement in the bed there and after about a quarter of a minute I thought I felt settling at my feet.  I turned on the light and raised my head!  I knew it wasn't her, but it was so real I had to look.  Unfortunately I looked into Leopard's face!! I forgot he was on my chest!  Startled me not too pleasantly for a split second!

Please see the beautiful memorials that Ann, and Ingrid on Meezers Mews and Terrieristicals Woofs sent me so lovingly.  I will save them always.

For now, the house has never been this quiet since it was bought.  I have never been so alone.  Admiral wrote about this last night...she was joyous that Katie came to see her.  As the Mom, I wrote about this in my own blog Ramblingon.  This tearingly hard event has overtaken everything else right now.  Katie will let me know what to do.  But here I am, writing.  :-)

Love you all.  Thank you so very much.

See Donkey!!  There he is!!!

A loving gift from Ann as well. Both will always be saved and displayed. .

Wowzers!

Taken Nov. 2019

Kitties! Woofies! All Parents who have read this bloggie.   Last night just before sunset (8:38 here) I came barreling into the living room FULL TILT! JUMPED to the window in the living room you all have seen me at hundreds of times...and flew back OFF the couch back and window at full elephant herd speed to the spare room otherwise known as Bruce's room, and then full speed BACK again to the living room, just to head all the way back to Bruce's room again.  I was still walking semi-wonky all day of course and then, THIS!  I bought a piece of my set of sushi  pieces Mom bought me 8 years ago (shrimp for inquiring minds) into the bedroom.  I didn't sleep on mom's neck this time though.  But she felt me at her feet once.

Kittie, Woofies,  Prayers work.  I am proof.  Now, that may or may not have been temporary, but we are going to gamble on not temporary.  Mom won't take away the bunch of things blocking me from jumping onto her desk top in the kitchen. Not for another 5 weeks.  Looks bad but doing me a power of good!  She WILL keep the main counter which is higher, blocked if she can...regardless of how bad that looks.  Food Serviss Gurl advised it, and we think her word is as good as gold.  Besides, Mackerull warranted her word. Good enough for us.  And as I meowed...Prayer IS heard and it helped me so MUCH! Thanks to each of you with all my sweet heart. 💗

Now...Mom said after my brushies she is headed out for lots of errands as the handyman has been here for 2 days already--- and again today ---but in the afternoon.  So  she's gotta get my fuds to refuse, and some for her too.

I and mom too don't know what the morrow brings for me and for her, but we are sure smiling today.  XXX

Another Day, Another Kibble

Kitties, someone suggested manipulation by the Dr. to slide my disc into place,  as Hall & Oates said "I Can't Go For That...oh no....no can do"  Dangerous, unless done by experts..specialist's, and hard on the wee patient.

Yesterday I scared Mom pretty badly.  She was positive she would have to call for an emergency work in but from afternoon on and today too, so far, I am happier.  Still UTB a lot tho. Late afternoon I had three dishes of food where I swore all day until then that I would rather be furless than eat!  AND I slept a lot  on and with Mom. WHEW!  (she said!)

This morning- a decent breakfast... still went UTB, but my mood is better.  First real purring in several days.  Still walking wonky- but not as bad as the first day.

Repair guy coming this morning.  Mom had to cancel going to the mechanics to get the car appraised for repair.  Mom and I just want this OVER with. Been going on forever!

Here's what is going into the small foyer.  It sort of matches the door in color.  He will be doing that today or tomorrow.

Gotta get ready.  I'll be asking for more treats.  Got a bunch already!

Mom LOVED this.  It can HAPPEN!

V-E-T again

Kitties, about 36 hrs ago Mom saw me slow and wobbling trying to walk down the hallway.  She videoed it for the Vet. And called for a time to be worked in yesterday morning.  It was so frightening looking that Mom thought thrombosis was imminent.  She doesn't know much about that, but she feared it.  The Vet found my feet warm when I got there, viewed several videos, and guessed completely wrong what the matter was.  My regular Dr. was off so I got one I don't know.

She thought it was arthritis as I winced and squeaked some while she went up and down my spine and then my hindquarters.   Her recommendation for arthritis meds was made.  Mom said she would rather not until:

Mom here:  The Vet was dead wrong.  I emphasized several times that Katie only showed that her back legs weren't working much at all at 4pm the day before.  Until then...running occasionally while on patrol, jumping every day onto my desk, onto the tub edge...even at 19 yrs of age. Standing on her back legs to snitch things on that level...how can it be arthritis?  I asked twice to have an x-ray just to be sure.

When she caved and ordered one, she came back to us in 15 or so minutes or so and said softly..(I had to ask THREE times for a repeat)..that Katie had a slipped disc.   (she was embarrassed) See?  There are times you can't blindly accept their word.  If I had allowed her to be the end all-be all, Katie would be completely un-treated.  I quizzed the Vet enthusiastically ( read firmly) as to what was to be done.  She said  a steroid shot, long lasting.  A month.  So we got one. Katie still wobbles, but not quite so badly and she is walking her normal pace.  I have nothing for pain.  If Katie shows she is still in bad bad pain, I will insist.  She is still UTB almost always since this started a day ago but!  She does come out frequently.  She avoids her beddies..not sure why,  Just wants to be UTB I guess.  Her appetite picked up.  May be the steroids.

I know that there are bad side effects to too much steroids in animals-- not that I am one.  I'm mommy's girl. So that is another consideration before long.

We love all of you so we wanted you to know.  If things get bad in a month or so, I may pack my bag, gather Donkey and Lion up..my fave blankie with my name on it... and we may go vacation somewhere wonderful.

Weekend of Deer Beauty.

Kitties!  Brovver sent MORE pics today.  These are his so to speak.  He has a herd of about 10 I think he said,  living in his back yard and woods ever since he bought the house a long time ago. He feels badly for them, and though it has cost him many plants and bushes as they eat everything he has, just about, except his camellia and gardenias, he never chases them or causes them to fear.  He just lets them call it their yard. It's funny in a way that when he comes here to visit, his door camera takes their pictures all the way dup at the door almost daily.

Before I show them, Mom has a serious question for all cat moms and dads.  Is anyone else's kitty eating "Fancy Feast Chicken and Beef, with Extra Gravy" food.  If they are, are the cats so crazy about it, that they stay near the dish ALL DAY asking for more?  I ate TWO full cans yesterday and would have had more, but we were courting a gigantic throw up extravaganza! Today Mom served me minced beef with extra gravy.  I ate it alright, but not with much enthusiasm.  Mom thought to open another can of the Chicken and Beef w/Extra Gravy and I was just like a a**ict!!  I couldn't get enough or fast enough! What in the world is in there to make me so in love with it.  I always eat Extra Gravy stuff and I have never done this before.

Brovver has Bunnies too.

Camera shot at his door

His driveway, but deer went next door

Kitties!

Kitties!  I flew to my brother's house in NC and made him carry me on a walk as he always takes.  He said he would but:  I had to take pictures with my iCat phone. And he wasn't going to do it for me.

He and I were eat up with deer opportunities and look!  Two babies too!  Soon as I got that done, I flew back...first class of course..after he gave me lunch and a snack.  And took me to the airport.  I was there for a few hours.  I don't like to leave home for a long time.  Mom needs me.

Look...here they are.  Some are fuzzy but whattya expect when he was jouncing me around carrying me!!??

I got home in plenty of time for a long nap and...a good supper.

July 13, 2026

WOW! Like a Lion Roaring.

Wellsir, I have no doubt now at ALL (not that I did anyway) that Donkey IS the prime member of Katie's family.  I was asleep.  Sound asleep and I heard the "SOS Emergency! HELP!  Call the Police!" sound of screeching coming from down the hall and then,  into the bedroom.  L-O-U-D.  It came to a  died-down first-halt in the entrance of the bedroom and it was Her Majesty, thought I didn't know it yet, announcing the Important Entry of Donkey, Himself.

He was laid on the carpet and the roaring went down to a horribly loud level lower than what announced him!  I spoke. I thanked her for the warnings, or the announcement, whatever it was.  Thanked her a goodly four times over her howling.  She got on the bed, walked up my legs and perched on my belly.  I wished she hadn't but knowing I would kill to have it happen on down the line, I just tried to go back to sleep.

Here is the personage who was properly hailed, and then, announced.

Lying supine on our bed.

He may be looking for a girl Donkey.  His profile.

Donkey, much loved by his fur Mama.

My main gardenia bush.  First bloom.

We will see if Donkey comes in again!

On With the Mews...

Kitties!  I was forced to the v-e-t.  Mom went to hers  the next morning as well...we should be all fixed for awhile!

For me, I got the grooming chores done...the Vitamin B-12, nails manicured, earsies swabbed out.  Mom said she failed to get all that done when she went to her V-e-t.  She said she wants to buy (no insurance involved) a glucose monitor after seeing one of my human brovvers having one for a couple of months.  He did it for the same reason Mom will...to see what she is eating in particular that could make the bloods soar into the stratosphere.  That is the one thing when she has the yearly labs, that she hates seeing.  Triglycerides too high.  She figured to work on the worst offenders whatever they are.  Her Dr. told her the darnedest things could do it.  She'll wear it a couple of months to see the lay of the land and then, do without. it and eat better. (no, she isn't diabetic..me either.)

Mommy said we are getting rain again and that is wonderful!  Oh and she said she got her hairs cutted yesterday at her Groomers place.  Instead of being just over half way down her back, it is closer to just over shoulder length.  PURRFECT!  I like messing with it. She won't have it wound up the back of her head like a French Twist any more.

Look at ME!  This is last evening!!  I'm in the kitchen! Kitties!  I can still leap up here!  Mom does not like my coming down though.  Afraid I'll hurt my little leggies.

No one can get passed me.

I have it under control!

July 6, 2026

Oh NO! Some Kitty help me!

Kitties!  I'm going to the V-E-T tomorrow, and she thinks I can't spell. News for you, Lady.

However it's for my B12 shot...nails cut, ears cleaned.  I think she regrets not asking for the Dr.  She noticed that I didn't have any solid matter in my box, so it finally trickled down to her that I was constipated.  Two days of a laxative, and I was able to add that waste to my box two days so far.  I am eating better either co-incidentally, or it's because I am not constipated just now.  Eating more too.  However Mom will wager I have lost more weight.  I am fragile now.  Not fair.  Not fair even a little bit.  But enough of that till they tell us I have lost weight.  I did race down the hall twice today looking at intruders. I take my time, eye measuring the height first- but I still leap to the desk top.  Mama does not like me jumping down.  Don't tell the mancats what I said  about you-know-what up there please.  It's not becoming to me.

Mom goes to her Vet Wednesday.  Nothing wrong really.  She hates going, so she treats herself to new earrings after.

The tree got cut down, the door was done, the HVAC too...so things are quieter right now.

July 2, 2026

Stuffs Gitten Done. some Ain't.

Door has been up 24 or so hours.  There is a somewhat minor problem.  The man will be over very soon and Mom'll show him.  I think the left side facing so to speak may need replacing.

Happy Canada Day to all my dear Canadian friends and Cats.  Hugs to each of you, furred and not, and  Mom and I so glad to have you as friends.  Canada Cats are THE finest in the Northern Hemisphere.  Right?  Right.

Very hot here.  Mom has been up and down for 2 1/2 hrs watering the roses.  They were looking sad again but Mom caught them in time it seems.  She looked up what curled edged rose petals meant!  Shiver our timbers...wasn't good.  We don't care of it's not Talk Like a Pirate Day.  We love doing that. We are working on it though...lotsa watering and they look far happier today.

I'm not hiding..I am in plain view but...I am sleeping the day away except for food.  I am old.  Mom and I both don't want to face it.  It's a struggle getting me to eat but I am eating some.  Mom follows me everywhere and will open whatever it takes to get me to eat.  I am still tucking my little precious headie into her neck at night.  Or sleeping on her ankle bones when I leave her Northern sector.  Or at her waist. I love my mommy.  With all my Katie heart. Mom is always concerned, but getting more so.  She won't do the appetite med.  It made me horrifically ill the day and I half I had it last November.  Mom promised me she would never ever make me take that.  My respirations were in the high 90's while taking it and I could not rest or be still.

Mom doesn't want a downer here.  We will keep you advised.

June 29, 2026

Holy Moley Cat Woman!!!!!

It's about to happen.  Mom spent yesterday and this morning telling me NOT to be in the way, NOT to escape, NOT to meow overly much, and to be a good girl AND to use my own litterbox regardless of the hubbub and not the floor.  PLUS my client will be here again.  He's 11, so he has ceased eating MY food, messing in MY box and playing with MY toys!  Now.  Not just my client- but the feller who is installing the door today.  At 10am.  But you know how time goes when it comes to workmen coming in.   Want to see it?  Or did I already show you?

It will be painted brown as is the old door inside and out.  He may or may not paint today. My client will be here with his Mom probably within half an hour.  The workman, the same, if I am lucky.  Me, I will probably stick a wrench into the works with everyone trying to keep me from making a tour of the great sunny outdoors.  Mom may have to move my litterbox into the hallway

Oh, Mom made a big to-do about the temp in the house with the new HVAC.  Hate to tell her, but when it is running is no lower than 72 degrees in here and can rise to 75 before it starts cooling again.  So it's HER, not the unit.  Poor thing.  She must be getting used to it.  I no longer see the pretty blue- violet flannel shirt on her.  And the nighties in bed at night have lightened up. Sheesh!

Mom's faintly duded up.  She was on her way to make a quick trip to the C.U. when she got a text that my Client was coming over.  Mom wanted to get the C..U. over with before the worker guy came, but with the text about the Client too, she came back in.  (Mom is impressed with the worker guy's musculature!)

I'll just run along and try to make mom nervous about what I will do with the front door open (and gone for a space of time)

June 22, 2026

In the Middle of the Night! Typo creations. Sigh.

Kitties!  I came howling down the hall in the deep dark nite nite time last night and did a super job of waking mom.  I was loud..I was persistent, and again, I was loud.  Mom gave up and called me.  I kept right on with exceedingly loud honking and snorting in the dark.  Mom kept calling me.  I came into the bedroom, still darker than a cup of coffee if I drank that stuff (she does!!) and finally shut up.  Mom said "come 'mere".  I jumped up and walked to her head.  I snuggled into her neck and shoulder.  This morning, she saw it was DUCKY who came in!   I sure announced him spectacularly!  I haven't bought Ducky in years!!  All my main toys are in the living room waiting for me.  I never bring any from my own room aka the computer room.  Wow.  That sure got her lively there for a little while.

Mom said the new front door will be here Saturday a.m. It won't be installed till Monday.  In a little house like this, it's to be leaning against the wall somewhere in the house till installation day and that  is going to be awful.

Mom said she has some no-fun-at-all appointments through the week.  Just two of those.  But a welcome visitor for several hours tomorrow.  I think I'm cold.  I know Mom is.  The thermostat for the new unit is set at 74 but mom is wearing a flannel nightgown, but just under a percale sheet..no blankie.  And a flannel shirt sometimes in the day time.  Never been that way.  Think the old dead HVAC must have been blowing overly warm air when A/C was required and overly cool warm air in the winter. Mom had to keep messing with the thermostat.  A new indoor thermometer is coming over night so we will see what the temp really is in here! She said getting out of the shower each day is like going into polar air.  Tiny bathroom and boy!  The  cold air blowing on a wet person is not fun. I guess I'd rather this than that horrible three days and nights of heat and humidity in the house that we endured a few weeks ago.

If Katie had a grandma this would be her!

I'll be seeing you over at your place after awhile.  I get to be on mom's lap regardless of her circumstances starting at 5pm.  I don't even feel sorry for her.  It's all about me.
