Just had brushies. (I came home with the crooked whisker)! |
The Vet called last night at about 7 and told Mom about the results after Mom called three times. The Vet apologized, but did not offer an explanation.
My results were good, the Vet said. The red and white blood cells weren't really of a consequence. Mom said she doesn't recall the reasoning, but she believes the Vet. My thyroid...T4 levels... were excellent. Smack dab in the middle. The only thing that the Vet said she wished to re-test in three months was the urine as the protein there was +2/ Mom doesn't know what that means...(she understands protein -and the blood stream...it's the +2 she doesn't understand). So, it seems my journey toward kidney problems is moving forward slowly. The past three years my levels were ok...a high normal. The only indicator this time is the protein in the urine I guess.
I became myself again when Mom woke yesterday morning. 48 hours after the sleeping time. I slept with her some in the night and greeted her when she woke. WHEW. Was she glad, or what!? I slept in my beddie, my tree, and my tent. And got on Mom's lap a number of times.
Mom got pretty mad at the Vet and was complaining and showing steam coming from her nosie when the phone rang late...7ish last night and the Vet explained the readings as I meowed at the top of my bloggie.
I hate the sleeps I was forced into, and Mom did not like seeing me like that, BUT a lot got done that I would not have permitted otherwise. Including..well, you- know- what -expression, booty trimming of furs to keep me cleaner, and a deep mat removed. AND the urinalysis. Hadn't had one in three years but that was the vet's deal and mom didn't know till it was too late. And my claws were trimmed shorter this time. I'll bet it was catheterization for the urinalysis. I would never ever permit that unless I had nothing to say by virtue of snoozing.
That's my report Kitties!
I called the clinic a while ago and asked to have Katie's lab results sent to me. They did. There are three highlighted parts. I did my best googling the terms to see what they mean. I called again and asked that the Vet please call me. Maybe she will before she leaves for home. It would seem one regards red blood cells, and one regards white blood cells, and the third, is carbon dioxide in the blood. Her urine looks excellent. I will ask all the particulars if I get a call. If not I will call again tomorrow-- and again ask for a call. As often as I must to get a report on the findings.
Katie is still not quite herself. Her exam was on Tuesday. She is eating and using her box. Drinking sufficiently, but not sleeping with me and lying on the floor a lot. I considered it an occasion when she came in here later yesterday afternoon and finally got in her bed. She got on the couch back today, thank goodness but she doesn't want to be brushed hardly at all. I used the human one on her very gently and she allowed that. She got into my lap last evening an hour before bedtime. But these past two mornings, she doesn't get on the bed to wake me, and when I stir, she doesn't come in to get on the bed for her lovins...I have to go look for her.
I so hope she gets all better quickly. She purrs with me...loves her smoochies and pets. But she isn't her usual self.
😔
Oh, Kitties. They didn't want to give me gabapentin when I went to the v-e-t. They wanted to do a more thorough exam and asked to lightly sedate me. Mom reluctantly agreed. I needed one mat shaved off, and the area under my tail to be clipped for cleanliness reasons when I am at my commode. And while they were there, they expressed my, um, well---you know.... um...glands.
The wake-up shot worked and within minutes of returning to Mom in the waiting room, it only took maybe 10 minutes for me to sit up. I have been lively enough since I got home. Even went to my litter box. Had something to eat, Basked in a few sun spots before they disappeared. Now I am just sitting and lying about. As soon as I got home I did my always usual. I checked each and every room to be sure this was my home. I always do that walkabout.
She said I had a little tartar on my teeth but they were surprisingly in great shape for my age. My teeth were excellent. She said I had a fatty lipoma on the inside of my thigh. She will examine it anyway under the microscope-- as she aspirated it while I was there. I'll find that result and the blood and urine test results tomorrow. But no lumps etc on my body other than that, a tiny little spot like the end of your little finger. My heart and lungs were in great shape. Nothing outside of that fatty lipoma (we hope that's what it was) was found. I have the names of the put-to-doze and the wake-up drugs on the invoice.
Mom got a bit sad while loving on me as I fell asleep and when I was brought back as well. She doesn't want to see me helpless like that ever. And she hasn't ever seen me like that before. But all is well now and I had much much more done and more thorough with being so drowsy.
Here I am...0800 today.
Kitties. I have a new drinking bowl for the bathroom in place of the flat bowl I have had always. This one is elevated. And another is coming today for the kitchen. My new elevated bowls hold 300 ml. (wish that was in oz. but oh well...I'm just a Tuxie.
This has led me to make Mom measure what I drink per day. Here is what she found out when I made her look it up: Mom and I both are writing this next part. Cats need to drink 4 oz. per 5 pounds of lean body weight per day and wet food counts, according to the article Mom read from Cornell, but it doesn't say how much it counts per se...only that wet food is approximately 88% water in itself. So, that wet food accounts for the water too, added to what we drink it from a bowl or a fountain.
Anyhoo, mom has to get up at dark o'clock in order to get herself and me ready to haul me off to you-know-where for my you-know-what. I'll bet I get my temp taken too! Hope I remember to say to get my nails done. I have to get there really early so as to get Gabapentin. Mom will stay there with me a few hours prior to the exam to keep me calm while it works inside me Then despite that, I'll be taken in to declare the Vet's ancestors! Mom goes too.
Mom will know the blood test results probably Wednesday via email. Claws crossed. I have three pee clumps each day. Never anymore and normal sized. They seem to be satisfied with that. However, they did say the past two years that I am showing up to almost borderline in kidney function. Scares Mom and me.
Mom said to a friend that she turned her back...couldn't have been more than 20 seconds, and I got into the chair she had just vacated. That would be the glider rocker. She saw me start a detailed bath..and when that was finished I had a long long nap.
Mom will never stop me, or ask that I leave anywhere I settle. She just goes to another place to sit. Her fave is the red rocker if she is going to read. Well, MY fave is the red rocker too!
Yesterday, she only was gone for a few hours, so, on her return, she waited for me to get out of her chair. A long time later, I did. She sat in it, and I hopped up onto her lap. Her toes (she and I are always barefoot in the house as the carpet is light colored and it sure saves on carpet cleaning bills) as I was scratching...her toes made the rocker move maybe an inch, no more than two inches forward, and backward, so therefore, I commenced to rocking. I love being rocked. Always have. But that forced her to have to stay seated a good two hours. When I got down, we attended to our duties for a moment or two and I hurried to the rocker before she could-- and I had it again for a long sleep.
Ah, life is good.
Kitties! I am a happy girl. Look what returned to the house after several years absence. Momma gave it to a pastor and his wife that were expecting a baby! She never knew how much she would miss it until it was gone.
They are finished with it as it was for the momma to rock the baby. When I layed in mom's lap back when we had the rocker, she very slightly rocked me while I was there. Yesterday when I hopped up on mom, she faintly rocked the glider rocker and I settled right down for some more.
Here I am after she got up. Happy girl, or what?
Kitties! This shown in the picture is my favorite room of all. This is where I get brushies as I monorail on the tub edge. Mom has a buncha brushies and combs that are just mine.
There's a human hair brush, a wonderful light thingy that mom calls a rake with small thin tines slightly curved. Takes a whole cat outta my furs. There's a cat comb, with various height teeth in it. There's a zoom Groom, a slicker (I don't like it) and a human rat tail (YES!!) comb.

Recovering from all the brushies |
Kitties, I know I'm here meowing too much as it is but wanted to participate in the Selfie Sunday again. I have been doing that fairly often. Thought I would come by your place for a minute on my way to the next one.. just to chew the catnip and stuffs...you know.

My Brother in NC sent me this- and I am using it against Mom! |
Kitties. Mom was in here prancing and wouldn't stop. I was hoping she'd go to the track but she didn't and stayed at home in MY office and had music going fairly loudly and she was all OVER the room. Here was my reply!
Later when the noise mercifully stopped, I went into my think beddie to recover. She drank 24 oz. of lemonade. All at once. I closed my eyes and ears. It's a fearful thing seeing her galoomping all over my office. How rude.
Kitties! I have had plentifurrous brushies, Zoomies, and combings. And a kitty wipe after to catch stray furs that the human hair brush didn't get. What a lucky Ladycat I am! Mom even deferred her own grooming time today, and once last week, to get mine done first. She always likes to "gitter done", but instead of my grooming after hers, sometimes she heads straight out the door. That isn't right.
I laid a guilt trip on her the last several weeks and it's working. Felt like laying a bitey on her!
Now here I am again, enjoying a sun puddle between chairs. I have lots of spacious nesting spots but I seem to have settled for here instead. At least for now.
