Stuffs...Spurned and otherwise...

Well, mom said there was some hummingbird poo on the big window.  Many times they fly up...hover and look in to find their human momma...namely my momma for she always cooks for them and keeps them in nectar till end of October.  More if they ask.

So after all she did today, she remembered to haul out the diminishing supply of sugar (add to the list mommy) and made them some nectar.  Its is cooled and out for them now.  The same ones come back plus new ones of course and all the families they raise during the time they spend here after their migration.  Mom said they are here April-late October.  RubyThroated hummers.  The rest of the nectar is in the fridge keeping cold till a refill is needed.  Mom brings it to a boil as required and takes it off the heat to cool.  Then after she pours their first meal, the glass jar of the remainder is stored till more is needed.  She never adds food coloring as they don't require it. It's not found in nature and may be harmful to some hummers.  The red of the feeder works to attract them.

Now.  That was the "otherwise".  What was spurned you may purr?  This:

Mom bought me this over the mountains.  A little tent all padded and just for me. HA!  As if!  YOU use it mommy!  And she bought me a fairly expensive soft microfiber covered pad in the shape of a kitty head for my water dish to sit on.  Will I drink?  No I will not.  Another fail mommy!

  1. That is so nice of Mommy to feed those hummers, Katie! Maybe if she puts some catnip in that tent, you might like it better? :)

  2. That is so very sweet that the hummers look in to find Mommy. And so nice that you start to see them this early.

  3. We haven't seen any hummers yet, but the mom needs to put our feeder out still. We've never seen hummer poop. That looks like a comfy tent. Maybe you should give it a try, Katie.

  4. I'm so glad your human is wise in the ways of feeding hummers, Katie! I don't know why you don't like the bed - it is awesome! We pretty much always like the stuff my human brings home.

  5. Really, KI? I think I'd quite like that cozy little kitty tent. I'd nap in there till Mom got home to play with me. Those humming birds sound sweet. (See what I did there?) Have you ever tasted one?

  6. Hummers are cool.....sometimes they fly right up to Mom's face when she's on the front porch - maybe they think she's a flower? HA! I doubt it! As for the tent - I think it's kinda cool Katie - might be a good spot to camp in!

  7. We like your tent, Katie! Too bad you don't. Maybe if your mom moved it to various locations until she found one that's right for it. Sometimes that happens here, we'll ignore something until it's in a better spot (from our point of view).

So nice of your mom to feed the hummingbirds, we bet it's amazing to watch them!

  8. Hmmm, Katie - that tent reallky is kinda cute. Maybe you will at least crawl into it later to have a look around! Or maybe you could at least crawl into it, sit long enough so she sees you in it, then leave and never visit again if you really don't like it. For a few minutes she'll think you really love it anyway and will sotp watching you. You have to think ahead of the humans all the time!!!

  9. Ron makes the hummingbird solution, and makes it up as needed...no food dye in ours, either.
You probably won't be able to resist the tent and pad for long, Katie. :-)

  10. So wonderful that your mom feeds your hummers for you. Hey, our mom took pictures of our cat bathroom (the part where the tub and toilet is) and we will be doing a blog post about it sometime next week.

  16. Hi Katie, how nice your Mom feeds the hummingbirds. She must make delicious nectar if she has birds waiting for it!
Too bad you don't care for your gifts. Maybe if Mom just leaves them out for awhile you will try them again.

  23. That is nice of your mommy to feed those hummers. You are right to ignore your new tent. You must never seem to be eager. When she has given up on you using it, that is the time to make it your new favourite place.
