Wordy Wednesday Maybe

Kitties, mommy said she has been and can continue affording the cable but she has become fed up paying so much for so little.  That money should go to ME and my upkeep.  She has decided she will likely only keep the internet. Unless they charge an outrageous price for just that.  Oh and by the way, there is no competition here in this area. Not among cable companies.  There is only one. Your only alternative is satellite (no- go for mommy) and that-other-company.  So it's  going to be just internet soon.

  1. We just about there with you, Katie. Three years ago, we had just Internet and kept everything else shut off. Yeah, we missed some stuff but we missed those extra dollars even more, because, um, toys and treats give WAY more value than any silly TV show!

  5. We're glad you're keeping the internet at least because we'd miss you terribly! We have no competition in our town either since Mommy needs fast, reliable internet for work. It's awful! But do call them to negotiate a better price. They really will. Seriously! But mark your calendar too since they'll give you a deal for a year or two but then it goes right back up unless you call and do the song and dance again. It's nuts.

  6. That clipart is hilarious! Purrrfect for a Wednesday. Mom wants you to know she has been Net only for years and never regretted it. She's also a big fan of Amazon Instant for stuff not found elsewhere. It actually works much better. No commercials. She watches what she wants, when.

  7. Love the kitties and one doggie!
Mom and Dad are getting ready to dump their home phone and also their basic-only cable. Mom got Dad a Fire TV Stick and they can watch amazon stuff and with Prime a bunch of it is free, and they also got a PBS app to watch the PBS stuff. Even their son and family (he was a total tv addict) who live near you gave up their satellite and have Netflix and Hulu. Mucho dinero saved and now the daddy watches movies on his little phone!

  8. Not only no competition here (except satellite) and now even less since Time-Warner just got bought up by Spectrum. But my internet is through the phone company where I still have a landline. So I am glad you will not be leaving, dear Katie !

  10. That's terrible that they can just jack up the prices because there is no competition there. We are happy you'll still have internet, though, because we would really miss you, too. Hugs!

  11. It's really sad that these companies gouge us like that, Katie.

  12. Your mom bean is furry smart Katie. Did you know she can watch lots of television shows on the internet. Maybe she can even find some of your favorite shows for you!

  13. We think we were confuzzled in our comment yesterday. Oh well, sometimes we miss stuff altogether! Competition for DSL is nonexistent here (that's what we've got), and our mom won't use cable or satellite for about the same reasons when all we want is decent internet access.

  14. My human could totally live without a TV. Well, she could have a TV and just hook up her Macbook to it.

  17. We have something wonderful out of the UK, called Freesat. You have to install the dish and buy the box but, after that, it's all free and you get over 100 channels! We also know people who just subscribe to Netflix.

  18. Don't worry - I will not take that cartoon personally, KI. That doggie looks nothing like me. Plus if I were there, I'd probably grab the bottle and run. That's how I roll...

  21. Really sorry that your company charges you so much for a little service. But I'm glad you are going to keep internet. Love the cartoon :-)

  22. It seems we in the UK have so much really good choice compared to you. Yes Freesat is one and Freeview for TV. You just buy the box and can have dozens of channels! Next year our provider will be starting to stream through superfast internet only instead of satellite, like Netflix and Amazon. Really sorry you will be losing the phone :(

  23. That's the Pitts sweetie - no competition sucks! Good luck to mommy having to make that decision. Not fun M says.

  24. My phone is the cheapest charge in my bundle. I don't make long distance calls except on my cellphone (Tracfone).

The sad part is the majority of television shows require one to have an ISP provider to watch them. I figure with no provider or television, I get more done ;-)

It isn't fun to be a human and make such decisions; however, we know your mommy will keep your best interest in mind!

  25. It is such a mess. Monopolies were supposed to be illegal. I remember. Hugs. (I have been so sick, still am, which is why I am scarce.)

  27. Guess what? We just cancelled our cable! Mommy kept the internet, and signed up for Sling TV. She also has Amazon Prime.

  28. I think there are little things you can plug into the computer to still see tv shows. I agree the money should be spent on you Katie. XO

  29. As long as she has the internet and we can still see your posts I am happy

  30. It sucks when companies take advantage because there is no competition! We are happy you will still have the internets :)

  31. Cable prices are just awful! They should be ashamed.. We hope you'll still find your baby shows with an antenna! Leo says you can come over and he'll make sure you can watch them with him!
There may be only one cable company, but it's possible that there are more than one internet providers, worth checking out?

  32. We hope some competition arrives so that prices come down. We have Comcast and Verizon fighting all the time here and it helps.
