We Are Thinking Really Hard Over Here About Stuffs. Please read again for correction.

Kitties,  mommy said that she was shocked a few hours ago getting a bill from her internet provider (bundled services, 'Net, TV and phone--NO added things.  Just basic things) shot to a few dollars under 200.00 dollars a month which comes out to  $2284.68 a year.  It was bad enough but that about caused palpitations as mommy and me have the basic cable with NO added shows or anything.  Nothing added whatsoever because she and I watch only 4 channels. And we aren't movie watchers (unless it is Star Trek stuffs).

Mommy called the place and got an out of Country call center of course.   Mommy only asked why the bill shot up even higher than it was the month before.

Mom said for so little it was an awful jolt as the charges before that were just 10 dollars less!  The person said they would give mommy $20.00 credit for a month so she could think it over.  She told the lady no, keep the money as it wouldn't be right to accept it.

She didn't say to the customer service person that she would likely go on to one of those antennas that let you have about 14 channels.  I will miss a couple of the ones I watch sometimes.  We will get something else for a phone so we can keep our burglar alarm mom said.  We are not sure about the 'Net yet.  It depends on how much they charge just for that with nothing else.  If it is awful, then mommy and me will have to say bye.  That would make me, mom and Admiral very sads.  BUT lets see how her substitutions work.  And  what "they" will charge just for the net.

  2. I don't know how it works with your various cable and satellite companies, but the cable company I'm bundled with gives you a 12-month deal. You have to call and re-bundle every year, otherwise they charge you the going ("undiscounted") rate. I would check around to see what other companies can give you. I know a couple of people who are really good at playing the game and come away with good bundle deals every year. I'm not that good. LOL.

    1. Unfortunately there is no cable competition here. You can have something other than cable but I would rather not after a bad experience with one entity, and hearing so much about the other folks with services out there. I am not a satellite person in other words.

  3. That really does not sound right! If I were you, I'd go down to a local office, in person, and take it up there. There is no way they can be charging over $2000 for real. It has to be a mistake, because that is beyond just about everyone's budget.

  4. Could it be a decimal placement mistake?

Even though our mom hates making calls, she would definitely call and call again until there was a satisfactory answer and says you should too. That is ridiculous.

  5. That does seem like an awful lot for just the basics, way lots. Hopefully you can figure out something. The whole phone, TV, internet thing is quite the ripoff. We sure would hate to see you disappear though.

  6. But... but... what would we do without you? And all those lovely pictures and stories? We really hope y'all find a way to stay online. PS: mom only has net, but it's highspeed. She just streams whatever she wants to watch.

  7. We live in Canada so our experience will be different.
We just have phone and internet. We need a landline as we live in an area that does not have dependable cell service (hills etc)
We do have Netflix and they have lots of Star Trek(all 5 TV series) and some movies.
We like Netflix and do not miss cable.Besides it's too expensive
    for us right now.
We purr you can find a suitable solution as we would miss you so much Katie!

  8. Katie, there is no way in halibut that we can go on without seeing your bikini and cute white feets and beautiful face! We hope your mom is able to get them to drop their price!

  9. We cancelled cable bundle services over a year ago. I have an antenna purchased for about $30 like you described and only have my cell phone Virgin Mobile for $40 a month (no land-line) and internet for about $50 per month. I do have Amazon Prime for $10.99 a month. It has some great series and movies included along with other deals from Amazon. Since I work full time, don't get a lot of phone calls and don't watch that much TV, it works out way cheaper than cables so called deals. Cable is going to lose its shirt as more of us drop their services because of their price gouging
$200 a month is way too high.

  10. Katie, our mom got the cable bill this month and it went up too! The mom is really upset and will be calling the cable company tomorrow about it.

  11. Yikes. $200/month for the basics? That's CRAZY, Katie and Mommy. We have our paws crossed, and are saying our purrs and prayers, because we would be so, so sad if you had to stop blogging. :(

  12. Our dad calls for issues like that and he would be so persistent that sometimes he wears them out, but we got out of the cable business because they charge too much for bundling.

  13. Hope ya can get it figgered out - sometimes threatening to switch to a different provider can make them lower their charges.

  14. Oh, no! You mean you might stop blogging?! Oh, no, no, no! There must be some other way. We are sure if you shop around and then threaten to move to a different Internet Provider, they'll make you a better offer. $200! That's outrageous!

  15. Cable bills are the worst. Soon, Mom and I will switch to a new company just to get the one year introductory offer. We hope your mom will figure out a solution. Not having internet seems scary to me and traumatizing to Mom. Yikes! Is that even a thing? Don't leave us, KI.

  16. I can see you're thinking very hard about this lying there on your back Katy....good thinking position. Cable costs TOO MUCH. My Mom and Dad only watch PBS and local channels so don't have cable. Phone is free because Dad's retired from phone company AND internet is thru AOL and they don't have high speed cuz it's expensive. Everything is expensive........isn't it just AWFUL! I hope your Mom and you can figure something out that works for you!

    love, Angel Sammy

  17. Ours tricked us with a $99 bundle for all 3 in the beginning and now it is about $300. I hope you find a good deal somewhere. XO

  18. It seems a total rip off, Katie! I hope mom gets it sorted!

It seems like they are ripping you off sweetie - just one big ripoff. kHope you getg it all figured out. I wouldh ate it if you didn't have internet.

  20. After my TV bit the dust, I dropped my cable television and saved $94. Yes, I miss some shows I enjoyed, but there were so many I never watched but had to pay for. Pays to check out other companies. My sister routinely changes her service to get a better price.

  21. We hope you get a good price for the internet because we don't want you to go! It's upsetting when company charges you more for nothing without any explanation. Many years ago, my bank charged monthly fee which I wasn't supposed to pay. We really need to pay attention to the bills and statements.
That's a gorgeous tummy you are showing, Katie san :-) Enjoy your nap xoxo

  22. Tell Mom to call her cable company back. Our bill had gone UP to $208. I called and got it down to $163. We had a DVD recording box from the cable company (we NEVER record), that took money off when they switched boxes. My husband has tons of sports channels, we didn't have to drop anything. If you complain enough, they will usually put you on one of their promo plans. That's what they did with me and it is good for a year. Then, next year you call and complain again. Hang with me, I'll teach ya the ropes lol

  23. We pay around $200 a month for internet, Foxtel and home phone it is a joke at times, my daughter got internet from DODO for I think $59 per month and has no home phone or paytv

  24. Wow! Mes thought it was cheaper in the US than in Canada! Mes thinks it's a total rip off.

  25. We sure hope you can get something figured out, we would not want you to have to give up blogging. We have ours all bundled too and we are going to have to do something. Our bill has gone up to $233.00 a month and our cell phone is $45.00. That is way too much money to pay for TV, internet, landline, and cell phone. Hugs and nose kisses

  26. Oh, dear, we are sorry to read this. prices are so out of hand. We have a convertor box and a little antenna and don't get much of anything on our tv but we can't afford cable tv. Hope you won't disappear. We value you and your mom's friendship.

  27. We know, Katie! The Human dropped ALL our TV service on Jan. 1 of 2016. We have been without any TV at all for over a year and we have not missed it for even a MINUTE. We have an AT&T landline that costs a ridiculous $60/mo. (we keep it because of the front door intercom system, but now that everyone has a cell phone, we are reconsidering that), and our Internet is U-verse that we pay $43./mo. for. Her cell phone plan is through Google's Project Fi and as long as she uses wi-fi and not too much data plan, that is averaging between $25-30 a month. We have Netflix and HBO and Amazon Prime which adds some cost, but it keeps us from missing TV at all. We *just* (this month) added the HBO--it's okay, but we might not keep it. Once she retires, she will certainly get rid of that $60 land line. As long as she's working, her budget isn't so tight as it will be one day. Sigh. It's always *something.* XOXOXOXO to our favorite girls
