How I'm doing

Kitties, I literally slept wrapped around my mom's head.  (I referenced our great bloggie friend "Cat on my Head" as what I did reminded me of them). Really and truly without moving except to push my snooter between the pillow and her forehead.  That was Saturday night when mom persuaded me to  come to bed when I started trying to hide I was so miserable.  I had no interest in food and all I could do was have loose stool and bile brought up right afterward.  I was sad indeed in that last picture in the last bloggie.

Mommy purred hard in her own way about it all day and night, and I did too.  We went to bed  early Saturday night and I never moved until 5:30 Sunday morning.  I did not bring my toys at all for several nights. Since I was quite literally on her head, Mom just dozed off and on as she was very uncomfortable but I am worth it.  I rose Sunday morning with my tail up, it was down the pervious two days.  I gave morning head bonks and a few side rubs.  Then, mom gave me a coffee teaspoon of wet fud--- which I ate.  We did that several times in the day.  No more vomiting and no bowel movement.  Mom finally got the first dose of probiotic into me today.  Divided up, I got the whole packet.

I have played some and eaten a lot and made two good sized peepees.

Mom and I want to know whether of not the probiotics will start me having a poop again.  I am not having any in 2 days after all that diarrhea.  Can you tell us what cat probiotics do?  Do they work on having you go to the litterbox or only to stop loose stools?

To all who were worried...mommy never ever let me eat her hair.  Don't worry, but we love you for being concerned. 💗 I just tried licking usually, but she woke immediately and covered her head.  She dislikes it, and she sleeps lightly.  Now, she takes no chances as she is wearing her do rag.  I think I got some sort of virus really.

  2. Keep getting better dear girl. Those probiotics should help get your digestive system back on track mostly by doing away with the bacteria build up that causes problems, at least that's my understanding. We have it here now too. Love ya Katie dear.

  3. Glad you are doing better. Not sure about how probiotics work for cats-in humans they restore good bacteria to the gut so make your bowels work properly. I wouldn't worry too much about a couple of days with no bowel movements if you had diarrhea for a couple of days prior. Good Health! xo Diana

  4. probiotics are what is in yogurt - the "good bugs" - but too much will give you gas ( i think?)
I have acidopholus capsules and sprinkle on myst's food once a month.

  5. My Mom agrees the most with Brian about the probiotics. The hope is the good bugs will crowd out the bad ones causing the diarrhea and sickies. Diarrhea and not eating much could mean a pretty empty GI tract, so a new, good BM may take a few days.

So glad that tailio is back up, Katie.

  8. If you are only eating a little, that's probably why you are not pooping yet. I am purring for you to get back to your usual self - the probiotics should help! Make sure you get lots of water/liquid to drink - having diarrhea dehydrates you. When any of us have had this type of digestive upset and had to go to the vet for it, we wound up getting fluids.

  12. What a relief you are feeling better! You did look kinda sad all droopy in your carrier in that picture. But, uh, maybe that greasy spoon was the origin of your, um, 'difficulties' ha ha ha meow! Come over here--I'll take you to a nice sushi place ;-) XOXOXOXO

I am thinking (trying not to be jealous) that the Greasy Spoon does not serve up wholesome fare! If it was anybuddy other than Mario with you, I would have bristled my whiskers, yes I would!! Next time you come with me to the London Savoy and we will have afternoon tea in style! ❤️x❤️x❤️

  16. Tail up is a good sign! We hope things start moving for you soon sweetie! I'm so glad you don't literally eat your moms hair, whew! Star never ate it either, she just rolled around in it, wrapping her head and paws up into knots and acting like she was on the nip, goofy thing, she was.

Leo: If you need some snuggles while you start to (hopefully) feel better, I'm available!

  17. Making even a little progress is a good thing, KI. Slow and steady. Mom and I read online about kitty probiotics, but all it mostly says is that your intestines will become healthier from them and good bacterias will chase away bad ones. Hopefully by now you're able to eat more, continue taking your medicines, and the poop will take care of itself. Thanks for keeping us posted.

    Love and licks,

  18. I'm sure you will eventually have a poop dear Katie....I did the probiotic powder for about 3 weeks then began refusing to have anything to do with it! Silly me! But it did temporarily take care of my icky toilet issues. Then I got really sick again last week and had to go to the stabby place yesterday for TWO HOURS.....I'm all fixed up now with some special foods (Hills prescription I/b canned stew) and a bunch of shots and a fluid treatment for my wonky kidneys. YOU need that probiotic stuff though to get some "good" bacteria back in your system after having "THE BIG D". Keep eating - poop will happen - it's one of those laws of nature or something!

    Hugs, Sammy

  19. Yikes! I hope it wasn't that yummy food at the greasy spoon that set your tummy off. My tummy has been fine princess, so I'm thinking it wasn't the cause of your tummy issues. M takes probiotics daily and it keeps her a "regular fellow" she says - whatever that means. We was really worried about you sweet girl!

  20. Keep getting better, Sweetie ! Like the comments above, I agree you are just so emptied out that it will take a day or two to reboot your system (I had the same issues this past August !) If you have been on antibiotics, sometimes they kill off the good "bugs" as well as the bed, and the probiotics restore them so your innards work properly ! Purrayers & POTP!

  24. We're happy to hear you are feeling better! Jenna gets sick spells occasionally. Her vet thinks she has irritable bowel syndrome and suggested a prescription diet. We just switched over to it completely. (Fingers crossed.)

  25. Hello darling Katie! We at CatRulers Central are so glad to hear our purrs have been answered. I had IBS for awhile. Vet gave me antibiotic and told me to take probiotic to put good bacteria in my gut. He also said I was to eat novel protein (not the usual chick-hen or turkey). From what M could tell, the probiotic, along with the other stuff, helped quiet and solidify my insides.

    Love you, Angel Nik

  31. I am glad you are getting better, Katie. when I first got ill and had diarrhoea all the time I had probiotics sprinkled on my food. In the beginning I thought it was very delicious, but after a few weeks I didn't like it any more and wouldn't eat my food if it was on there. If you take antibiotics they kill a lot of the good bacteria as well as the bad. The probiotics restore the balance of healthy bacteria in the gut.
