Oh Noes!

Kitties, Woofies, the dental is really going to happen. My Tech friend from the v-e-t office came by last night to trim my claws.  I heard mom and she talking about the DENTAL to come on March 17th.  Tiffany said I had to starve to the worst degree possible as I can't eat after midnight.  That means mommy will take up my food and water at 1030 because I am not allowed to drink either, so I will be starved AND dehydrated to black and white dust.  And no breakfast kitties!  I'll whither on the vine (if I had one).

I'll be stuffed into my PTU and dumped off like a pot roast by 8 am or so and I won't see mommy all DAY!  Her's calling the carpet cleaners as if I am gone cause I can't escape through the door if I'm not here.

One thing though I will ask of you brave kitties and woofies who have gone through this.  If I have not eaten nor drunk anything, I hope when I come home I won't have diarrhea.  Tiffany told mommy probably not, but you never know so I was wondering if I am gong to have an unhappy heiney once I get home.  Can you help with information?  And purr for me that day too?

Mom and I are skeert!

  1. Katie, you will be just fine. A lot of us have had to not eat or drink and were just fine when we got home. Hungry but that is to be expected. You might not eat right away that afternoon since your mouth will probably be a little sore. And you probably shouldn't get a lot to eat all at once. You will be just fine.

  3. Katie, I am sending my Mom and Dad to your town post haste this weekend to snatch you away from that terribleness before it can happen. Sounds to me like your Mommy cooked the Dental up as a way to get her rugs cleaned. Hah!

  4. Oh you poor angel! How could this happen to such a nice kitteh?? Our Mom did want you to know that we've never had an upset tummy because of this. Also, because of our ages, we were allowed to have water all night long, just not food.

  5. Miss Katie, I am in agreement with Simba! I think this terrible foul deed is perpetrated by your momma on a pretext!! There is nothing worse than a pretext!! It means she is trying to dupe you! But you are very clever to have sussed her out. What you should do is call her bluff and pretend to go in the PTU, but instead dart through the tunnel and visit with me! I'll send one of the minis over to take your place. Trust me, they will never know the difference!

PS Mum to Mom. Austin squeaked a lot when he went for his dental surgery because he said he was starving!! *rolls eyes* When Katie gets home after the anaesthetic just give her a little soft food to start with. Don't let her gobble. She might not be up to eating for a while, but obviously plenty of water :) xx

  6. Oh no, poor Katie! I will purr for you to not wither away from starvation. When I have my blood tests I always get starved before. I am allowed water though.

  10. It'll be okay, Katie. Both boys have had two dentals, Annie had one, and even Chum had one years ago. None ever got diarrhea, none ever threw up their food when they got home and started eating.

Lots of purrs to you (and your mom!) from all of us!

  11. Both Binga and Boodie have had dentals - Binga twice and Boodie a few times more than that (her teeth aren't that great, although they improved after my human stopped giving her and Binga any dry food whatsoever). They both were fine when they came home. In fact, the last time, even though Binga was loopy, she was begging for dinner! (She didn't get it until the time the vet said it would be okay.) I'm sending purrs your way anyhow to make sure you get through it all right.

  13. You'll just sleep right through it, Katie. You'll probably dream of fishies or something! And the plus? No one will hiss at you when you get home (like some cats here have done).

  14. Oh Katie san, I'm sorry it's really happening. But you will be OK...you go take a nap and when you wake up, your teeth are shiny! Niko had dental several times and this is what I always told him.
He never had diarrhea but he sure was hungry. He ate a lot after the dental and I could see his tummy expand with all the food! I'm always very scared when he has to do dental..your mom must be really scared, too. I pray it'll go smoothly xoxo

  15. Katie, I went through this not long ago. It was HORRIBLE not being able to eat or drink anything all night, but I did not have diarrhea afterwards. I'm sure you'll be fine...and will have clean teef too! ~Wally

  18. First of all, we have to say that Leo and I LOVE that picture of you! So pretty, so regal!
I wouldn't think you'd get litter box issues for not having eaten, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having that happen, but I'm curious if anyone comments that they have. We'll purr for you! And Leo says he'll come and stand guard over you if you come home groggy!

  20. Oh Dear Katie......the starving/dehydration part will be forgotten as soon as you get back home because your Mom will make sure you have EVERYTHING you want and need! You won't even REMEMBER the trip to the vet - you'll be back on your throne and getting hugs and sympathy (from your Mom AND from all of us). Really and truly.

    Love, Sammy

  24. Sweetheart, you are going to be just fine. The only kitty M had a problem with was the very first kitty, and that was about 49 years ago. They have come a long way with the dental procedure since then. I had all my toothies pulled, and never had litter box issues either. I don't think it will be a problem at all.

  25. Oh, KI, you will be the cutest pot roast ever dropped off! I never had dental work, but when I had surgery once, I could only lick an ice cube when I got home. Then in a few hours, Mom gave me a little dinner. I was fine. You will be fun, too. Mom and I already said prayers for you and your mom not to be too scared.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake
