Furriday Finking

I'm finking we need to get our paws together for Leo,  who lives at Critters in the Cottage with fur siblings we all know.  He is a very handsome Ginger boy and he needs us now  He has a mean lump between his shoulder blades.  Here is his handsome face.

In other news,  Mom wishes the evile squirrels would let up on her.  She had to quit feeding the birdies last summer.  Makes he feel badly every day because there are so many of our fever friends out there and mommy says she can't afford constant bags of sunflower hearts with squirrels and the deer eating the holds-5 pounds- feeder down every 24-36 hours.  $$$$.  So she gave up.  Makes her sad just as when she had a container garden way up high on the deck, the raccoons came up and tore the deck up (not kidding) and scared me terribly so that I screamed for an hour!  They ate the veggies and tore up what they didn't eat.  So mommy can't feed the birds and can't have her little garden for two years in a row.

The Raccoons  climb up about 15 feet to get to the deck and its things.  Mom had to hire a trapper at $245.00 to get rid of them.  (No, he doesn't kill them.  He moves them out of town.)

Well, this is nothing about me really so I will quit dictating nows.  Smoochies.

  1. We are sorry the evil squirrels are eating all the seeds and food your Mom puts out for the birds. We hope they give up and go away so your Mom can start to feed your friends again.

  2. Well that is too bad. I am sure the squirrels will find things to eat. I can't feed the birds here either since there are so many resident cats. Hope all of you have a great week end.

  15. We had the same problem with the feeders at our house, only it was squirrels and turkeys, too! Thank cod we didn't have raccoons eating the house. that would have been too much. We are sorry you have less entertainment outside your window as a result.

  16. The squirrels eat our birdies' food too. We even give them food of their own! They make pigs out of themselves. Sheesh.

We're purring for Leo and hope he will be okay.

  18. Oh Katie, we are so sorry those mean ole raccoons scared you. We're glad the Trapper man came and moved them some where far away from you. The squirrels are pesky but fun to watch from the window.

    Sending healing purrs to Leo.

  19. We don't have to deal with raccoons or deers but Mommy can't get the birdies to eat the food she puts out. MOL. So she puts food out for the tree shrews so we have some entertainment. :)

  20. We have the same problem here Katie although not raccoons! The deer come up out of our woods and eat Mom's sunflower seeds out of the bird feeders and what they spill, the chipmunks and squirrels get....it's expensive buying big bags of seeds!!! Mom doesn't fill the feeders as often as she used to.....

    Hugs, Sammy

  21. Sweet Katie we are so sorry your mom can no longer feed the birds because of all the ornery critters taking their food. We only have squirrels here and we have squirrel proof feeders or we couldn't afford to feed them either. We are sorry about the garden too. Prayers for sweet Leo and we hope all goes well with him and he recovers quickly. Hugs and nose kisses

  22. If I remember correctly, your house is right next to the woods, so it is not surprising that you have lots of critters around the house. You probably have moles and chipmunks in addition to the critters you mentioned. Maybe if your Mom could string a wire from place to place that was strong enough to hold a feeder and some birds but too thin for squirrels to crawl on, that might solve the problem. Maybe your Mom could ask for advice from the nearest natural history museum, or some such organization.

I'll to to the Critters in the Cottage blog now.

  23. This sounds exactly like where we live. The raccoons climb the electricity cables that are attached to the house to the upper deck, then come down the stairs to the catio looking for food. We can't leave our food out at night, and Dad had to get locking metal cans for the bird seed. And then they dig in Mom's plant pots and leave piles of poop! Daddy continues to feed the birds and squirrels as they are our entertainment when we are on the catio. Sorry you have to miss out on that. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  24. Prayers for Leo. I wish him well.
I love squirrels, but yes, they do eat a lot! We have a couple of feeders for them, but they also raid a couple of bird feeders. The raccoons come in summer.I have to take in some of the feeders at night then. They are fearless. ~xo~

  25. I am glad we don't have raccoons here. The squirrels come and eat the bird seed and take the fat balls away. I run out and chase them when I can.

  26. The squirrels don't even eat a lot of what they take! They are very greedy and hide the food by burying it. Sometimes the crows are watching the squirrels and dig up what they buried and sometimes the squirrels just can't remember where they hid it. Thats where all the little trees come from every Spring all over my yard.
