Remember Me Thursday

Kitties, today is Remember Me Thursday.  It's in honor of all of the animals in shelters who never got their forever home.  Please take some time (I know you will...I am meowing to the choir here) to remember these innocents who were, by and large, only there in the shelters because humans did not do their duty and spay and neuter their pets. What happens as a consequence is a tragedy and so un-necessary.

Remember Me Thursday is a Pet Adoption Awareness Campaign via the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

Oh please, continue to adopt your new companion and please encourage other pet owners to spay and neuter their pets and help prevent needless suffering, cruelty and unkindness to these innocent beings who are supposed to be under our stewardship.

Please light a candle to their memory and to responsible stewardship and caring.

  1. This is all such a good idea to light the candles for all those poor animals that had to go to the bridge because there wasn't an available home for them. And Yes, getting out the word for spaying and neutering needs to be gotten out to the public. We need to figure out a way to get this message out to other people besides pet people.

  4. We did go and light a candle in remembrance. We wish more people (and it's not our community) would partake in spay/neuter. WE CB'ers know the value and the importance of spay/neuter. So many lives would be saved. So many. And we do hope that everyone adopts those animals from a shelter or rescue group.

  14. We lit a candle in honor of cats like our Ashton who aren't "perfect" and are euthanized without even getting the chance to find forever homes. We hope that getting the word out about spaying and neutering will eventually help with population control so that shelters won't have to make such hasty decisions about beautiful little lives.

  22. We lit our candles and listened to mom tell us about homeless kitties. We hope there were lots of adoptions yesterday around the globe and that a bit of light shined down on those homeless sweethearts. Purrs...

  23. You got it Katie! It IS quite heartbreaking. Fortunately all the pets in my family and friends circle live like Queens and Kings.

  24. I lit my candle for sure. I lit it for the little kitten TW and Pop found in the island off 495. They thought maybe someone put it out of their car so they wouldn't have to find it a home. TW brought it some food and We hope the woman we called who TNR and feeds ferals around there found he/her and got it fixed up. The kitty was in rough shape.

  25. We will always remember, Katie. It makes us so sad to think of all the poor babies not lucky enough to find forever homes. We're all former shelter cats here, who were fortunate enough to be adopted.

Thank you for sharing this important message, sweet girl.
