Back Up on Monday

Mom said in response to a comment yesterday, to let you know that luckily she does have a back up Donkey for me.  She had found this one at a close out store.  There were two. She brought this Donkey home and it has been love at first and forever sight for me since.  She also bought Lion at the same time.  There was only one and we know how I also love Lion although Donkey is my favorite lovie.  She went back the next day and thank goodness the last Donkey was still there.  Usually she is a day late and a dollar short but this time she scored.  She wishes she also had a backup Lion.  It's a close out so when she went to the website there were just doggy toys.

Do your mom's ever notice that in any given store the pet section shelves are well stocked with doggy things, foods and toys but the one aisle is usually sectioned off to just maybe 20 feet for food and a few toys?  Funny that store owners don't recognise that cats are family too.

Lots of changes in my home lately.  The roll away bed is gone that used to be in my  the computer room is gone as there is no longer a need for it.  The old scratcher made from sea grass that I detested is gone as is the condo that I refused to use.  More room for more lounging places like my new hammick! And my new beddie!  All available space is used and commanded by ME.  I am the Mistress of the Household.

  1. Hi, sweetie. That is so good to hear about Donkey. Sending lots of loves to your whole family.

Audrey's first Mom found that her Baby really liked a particular lambie lovey (the kind like a very little blanket withe head only on it) so she ordered 2 more as backups. They are soft pink and very nice for a little one in her crib. Well, Mama wanted to work the two new ones into the rotation so Baby loved them all three equally. Now Baby KNOWS there are three and likes to have all three at once! Tell Mommy not to go down that road!

  2. Thank goodness your Mom found you a new donkey - which reminds us - we must ask Mum where she has hidden Lucy's tiny lion.

  3. Oreo likes a certain kind of squeaky dog and has gone through 3 of the them with his love. Fortunately the Shopko store usually has them instock. I usually get two just in case. It also has two aisles. One for kitties and on for doggies. I really didn't look much at the kitty one but from a distance it looks about even in products.

  4. Mistress or Queen? Either way, it's good to be top kitteh!

    Happy Monday sweet Katie!

  5. Just be careful that your mom doesn't keep these backups for herself. I know for a fact that my mom has several toys meant for us hidden away because she thought they were cute.

Maxwell: It's nice to know a potential Donkey Crisis has been averted, too!

  8. We're glad you have extra space now for the things YOU love :)

Good to hear there is an extra donkey. We agree that many times the aisles for kitties have less than the aisles for doggies. On the other hand, a lot of dog toys are BIG!

I totally agree the pet stores carry minimal items for cats. It annoys the heck out of me, but thank goodness for the internet!

  11. Yes Katie, I ALWAYS notice how few things there are for kitties in the stores and there are aisles upon aisles of stuff for the doggies. That is just wrong!! Glad to hear you hoomin in getting rid of stuffs you don't like, to make room for new things you love! ~Purrs

  12. Are you sleeping in the new beddie yet? That's usually true about stores having way more dog stuff and cat stuff but TW was surprised that our local Petland had 2 aisles for cats. Of course it still didn't have anything she was looking for. MOL! That donkey and lion are cool and different. I'd never seen them before except on this blog.

  13. Thank goodness for backup Donkey. I love my silvervine pillows and they are all covered in drool and kicked to bits. Luckily for me, Mommy knows the lady who makes these pillows so I'll never be short in supply! :)

You are right about the lack of toys and food options for us kitties. Mommy now searches for our toys and treats online where they cost a paw and a foot because they are from the USA. MOL.

  18. We are glad your home is being tailored to the things that YOU like, Katie! Because you are special, and deserve it!

Yes, it's true about there being more dog toys than cat ones in the stores. When will those humans learn?

  19. Hi Katie, I just wanted to tell you that I am cat sitting a young lass call Licorish (I may have spelled her name wrong), she is all black and loves to explore my house. She looks in every corner so I have to be careful and make sure I separate her from my plants. She belongs to my fiends that just got married and are now on their honeymoon Camping at a lake in northern Alberta. Katie, you have a wonderful week.

  21. We're glad you have a spare donkey!

The head peep has noticed that stores stock lot and lots more dog toys than they do cat toys. It's discriminatory!

  22. Just don't be a harsh mistress, Katie. :-) We leave the small toys out all the time, even thought Gracie and Millie seldom play with them. Somebody plays with them at night once in a while. The cardboard box and brown paper bag go out into the garage when the kitties tire of them. It's good that your Mom has an extra donkey for you. I buy more tissue paper when the kitties use up a package.

We buy cat food at a PetSmart store. they ahve 4 or 5 aisles of cat stuff. We buy litter at Kroger or Meijer because it is cheaper. We buy the food at PetSmart because they carry the very big bags and Kroger and Meijer don't.

  24. It is great you have a backup Donkey! It's always good to have backups :-) When I buy a toy and boys love it, I go back to store and get more. It's when they lose interest.
Petco near our house rearranged their store and reduced kitty section! How could they!

  30. Darling, Of COURSE you are Mistress of your House but you are also QUEEN of Tennessee and Neighboring Lands!
I was awfully glad to hear you have a back-up donkey, because honestly, I just looked at that one you posted yesterday and it worried me a little. Donkey has seen better days--you have worn him out, darling!
Perhaps you have noticed that the Human has become a bit recalcitrant and rebellious and occasionally she refuses to do my bidding when it is time to visit. I disapprove of this as you can imagine. Still, I don't want to actually HURT her. So I just tap my handsome little paw and make irritated noises. It does not always work though. Sigh.

  31. Well Katie you always HAVE been the mistress of the household haven't you??? But it's nice to have more room to stretch out! Yes my Mom says she's noticed in every single pet shop she visits that there's TONS more doggy stuff than cat stuff to be found. Sad isn't it?!

  41. Well, we gotta say that the Petco here is pretty fairly cats and doggies. I was dragged into , um "visited it once", and it was "catly" so far as I saw. Not that I explored the WHOLE store. ~ Iza

  42. Pawsome that there was one Donkey left when your mom got back to the store !
Here in Sweden I think the kitty food , treats and toy´s takes as much place as the stuff for woffies.
At least in most pet stores and that is the one´s my mom goes too :)
