Another Attack on Cats by Mom

Cat parents, this really made me mad.  Here they go again!  What IS this vendetta against cats? The cat haters are really out in force it seems and they are given credence by news vendors as we well know when cats were attacked earlier this year saying they were singly responsible for every wild bird death ever recorded!  yes, I am being facetious but still, it makes me very upset to keep reading these seemingly non-stop attacks on a hapless animal!

Here is a link from this morning.  Sigh!

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/07/09/cat-poop-parasite-is-dangerously-widespread/

Why, it's a wonder we are not all dead in our homes with these dangerous villians out there!

This stuff really ticks me off!
Remember our babies who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge are in my Rainbow Page above.  Not ever to be forgotten.

  3. You are right to be upset Katie. Too many people will uncritically accept such hogwash if it is not challenged.

  4. Take no notice of these silly articles Katie you don't poop outside - it's just a shame they don't have something positive to give to the world instead of always moaning and groaning.

  5. You're right, Katie and Mom. It's as though some people want to blame cats for every ill in the world. Next thing you know, someone's going to say kitties are responsible for global warming and the majority of the world's drug trafficking. Ridiculous!

  6. you would think humans never heard of soap and water. sheesh....

  7. We don't understand why the news tries their best to get people to not like kitties. We know they turn people against pit bulls too and as always, it's not the animals fault, it's the owners!

  8. This isn't news! Always knew that peeps who were preggers needed to be super careful changin' the boxes. Someone has dug up old dird trying to make a big stink and make themselves look smart when, really, these peeps were just recycling the old dirt.

    FEAR MONGERING at its finest.

NO MORE FOX OR NBC NEWS AT MY HOUSE!!!

  9. Human waste and garbage can lead to all sorts of diseases, too. Did they mention that? No!
One-sided news is DANGEROUS to the mind! Did they mention that? NO
    Forget these idiots!
Take a nice nap instead! Relax!

  10. Only idiots let their kids play in sandboxes that aren't kept covered.

Toxoplasmosis is generally a mild disease except where pregnant women are concerned. Indoor only cats do not get toxoplasmosis so a pregnant woman with indoor cats should not need to worry anyway. But she can be extra careful and have somebody else deal with the litter.

Roundworms and tapeworms are much more serious and are carried by DOGS and chipmunks etc. Why don't these article even mention the worms? At least outside kitties usually do their poop in a more secluded area. Dogs?? Right out in the open. And dog owners who don't scoop??? Don't get me started. But even if they do, some remnants can be left behind.

  11. You are in good hands with your Mom, Miss Katie. She will take care of you! xo

  12. I would say it is a vicious attempt by dogs to defame cats everywhere BUT I know of dogs who'd rally to cats defense. So, it's the birds! The birds are the ones digging up poop against the cats!! It's yellow journalism at it's best, dear Katie! Every cat should be outraged by such litter bin talk ... Love you, Katie!

  14. We have heard about this parasite in Sweden too *sigh*
Mom say´s it´s just to wash your hands after you cleaned the litterbox.

  16. Katie - I am brushed each and every day at least once but today I have been busy snoopervising some birds who have babies in their nest. I have been watching them from the garage roof but haven't been allowed to climb up the tree and visit. Mum will give me another brush when we snuggle down to watch TV and if she knows it is near the roots she may just help it on its way with a tiny pair of scissors.

  17. Actually, #1 tells us that the real problem nowadays is over-sanitization. People are so busy trying to be clean that they are losing any and all resistance to life. Silly people...

  19. Money quote from the second article: "there's evidence that fewer are becoming infected by the parasite and veterinarians say that responsible pet owners are actually at lower risk than others."

Hello! Things are getting BETTER. So what's up with the cat bashing?

  20. What ever happened to WASHING YOUR HANDS AFTER DOING TASKS LIKE THIS!!!

  21. The Toxoplasma gondii parasite carried in cat poop has been known about in the UK for decades! I have a cat and I have an chronic illness which means I have a compromised immune system!! But the illness was caused by Borrelliosis which is carried by ticks and other blood sucking insects. If you are meticulous about hygiene when cleaning the litter box, then I don't believe people are in danger. It is scare mongering by people who want more money to play with test tubes!!

  22. Hello pretty Katie! I say we all need to help find smarter humans!

  23. You are right, mom san and Katie san. These articles sound more like just attack on kitties. Sigh...

    ReplyDelete
  24. This makes us mad, too, Katie. People will believe that garbage as long as there's someone to spout it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Add NPR into the mix! They picked it up too!!! AAAARGH

  26. Ah it's just a load of shi..p. I mean a shi..shipload of...ah...what nonsense!

    ReplyDelete
  27. We aren't even going to dignify that article by reading it. All we can say is, anyone who digs in poop gets what they deserve. But you are so right, there is so many stupid haters out there who don't question the garbage they're fed.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The mom saw this article yesterday. Another attack on us cats! Won't they ever stop???

    ReplyDelete
  29. Any cat owner knows that cat poop can cause illness and they wash after scooping. I never believe anything I see on FOXNews but I see everyone has jumped on the Hate Kitty bandwagon. HISSSS!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Some people just have to complain about something and they pick on cats frequently. But we all know in our hearts to IGNORE this kind of stuff! Not always easy though is it.....

  31. There is poop all over the place...bird poop, squirrel poop, rabbit poop and on and on...guess they never thought of that just had to pick on sweet kitties...shame on them! We have not heard of any deaths due to poop. Hugs and nose kisses sweet Katie

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh of course this is a kitty conspiracy!

"Death by poop"! Though some folks might deserve it (i.e. poop piled all OVER them, esp. cat haters/abusers!) this is completely silly. Honestly, don't some people have better things to do?

You just keep right on being wunnerful, Miss Katie, and don't listen to these idiots!

    PURRZ!

  33. There really isn't any new news here. Pregnant women have been warned about this for years and parents with sandboxes have been warned to cover them. HIV and Immune Disorders have now been added. Those publishing are just looking for more reasons to blame us kitties for everything under the sun. But we will prevail in the end. For every one bad article or report there are hundreds of cat owners, rescuers, bloggers and lovers who will continue to work vigorously to save kitties and set the record straight. Let's all keep up our reminders and posts and articles in defense of the kitties. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

  34. Oh Katie - those articles make us hissing made too. It's just a bunch of ignorant humans want to stir up their hatred of cats. They are nasty people Katie - we are better than that. So ignore them!
