Monday Moves

Here is what I do Kitties,  and it's on purpose too.  Mom knows that all through the night when I come and go, my step is so soft and slow in the bed that she rarely can tell it's even me till she reaches out and feels the puddle of furs.  However:  Comes 0600, I run in, leap into the air and land as hard as my 11 pounds will let me right on her!  No quarter given and she said, none expected.  That is her first warning.  I will leave if she stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that crash landing and I know darn well she had to have felt THAT!

After thumping very hard and loudly onto the floor I come back in about 5 minutes or possibly less.  Then, I use subtle things as in checking her eyes to see if she's in there after creeping up to her face.  I purr loudly and put my nose on her...then, the "coop dee gracie"..I pat her mouth and cheek with my sweet paw..no claws..very soft.  Works every time, Kitties.  Every time.  Some kitties have said to do that first and if it didn't work, emply the Fly'n'Leap'n'Land on her afterward.  I may experiment.

Here I am yesterday after telling mom off.

  2. Wel, 0600 is a decent hour, Katie. It isn't 0400 after all.

  3. That's a pretty adorable (and effective) wake up routine, Katie! I've got my own personal alarm clock. His name is Waffles and he takes care of chasing Glogirly out of bed now.

    Pssst!

  4. You do look very serious in your photo.

Jasmine, my Snowshoe Siamese, sleeps with me at night. Is known to sleep on my hair. Meredith never sleeps with me. She has her own room and enjoys it there.

  5. 0600? You let your mom sleep in! I come and softly tap Mommy in the head all through the night starting at 2am so she wakes up and lets me under the covers. I get out as soon as she falls asleep so we can do it all over again!

  6. Katie, we want to know why not claws? They're very effective. Heh heh.

(In fairness to Derry, the claws only come out now if I don't respond in a timely fashion. It used to be a claw up my nostril!)

  10. Sounds like you have an excellent way to wake your mom up! We all do it differently at our house. Sable does that pawing thing like you do. Spunky will start head-butting mom. Some of us walk on her, some of us sit on her. Fiona use to knock stuff onto the floor. She stopped doing that, much to mom's relief!

  14. Katie, is there any high furniture near the bed? Margo used to get up on a 5-foot high chest of drawers and leap down on the bed as we were about ready to go to sleep. Now that was a WHUMP! Our kitties seldom get up before we do. A certain lady of autumn thank you for the "coup" term. :-)

  15. You're such a sweet girl to let your Mom sleep that late! Would you give Princeton some lessons in wake-up etiquette? He needs them! MOL!

  16. That is such a thoughtful think to wake your mum in the mornings like that Katie.

  17. Your mom is lucky! Jenna puts the bum of disrespect right in my face to get me up :)

  18. You just have a lovely name Katie Isabella.

Well in our house it's Emma's turn to be the alarm clock. She wakes up the human at her whim, sometimes it's 2 AM. Other times it's 4 AM. On good days she wakes her up at 6:45. The "real" clock goes off at 7 AM.

This is her modus operandi...walk all over the human, walk up to the face - checks if the face is showing or hidden under the hair or blanket. Then with pawpad softly tap cheek or nose or hair or mouth. When that doesn't work, repeat proc, but there is a little claw involved in the last part. That surely would get the human up and dole out the treat or clean out the kitty litter.

  19. Aw Katie! Everything you do is special! Our 4 kitties have many special things they do to get us up for their morning meal every day. They start out gently and then.... lol. Well, you know how THAT goes, doncha?? :D

  20. Oh that sweet paw patting and purring.....it should work all the time :-) Oh but the fly'n'leap'n'land is very effective, too! Hehehe.

  21. That flying leap move sounds great, Katie! Does your Mommy really like that? 'Cause we're going to try that one here, too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bet she looooves those flying leaps! We do those at 4AM. You should try that.

  23. Our mom feels so lucky that we don't wake her up early in the morning.

  24. What a precious girl you are, Katie! Mommy doesn't think she'll survive a running leap from 14# me! MOL.

  25. Well sometimes Katie we have to be a little MORE than "subtle" in getting our message across! I think leaping and landing on your Mom's tummy is a grand "message" !!

  26. That telling off picture is very cute, Miss Katie! We do feel, however, that you may be a little harsh n her in the mornings. None of us would ever dream of awakening #1 from her slumbers! And Beebs, who seeps under the covers next to her, generally gets up after she does!

  27. Oh Katie, what a way to wake Mom. That has to be some jolt. Oreo first does his scratching which shakes the whole bed. Then he follows with kisses to the face. I get the jumped on jolt when I get ready to nap as he comes up to nap with me.

  28. Katie, Tigger and I have had a discussion and we think you are being very restrained!! We advocate a 2.30 a.m. poke in the eye! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. What did your mom do to make you angry? Another fun part of the wake-up call is to put your nose in Mom's ear. We do like your paw patting her cheek and mouth. That is very sweet, unless you just came from the litter box, COD forbid.
