V-E-T... Yes, that's where I went!!

Kitties, mom took me to the v-e-t yesterday.  She scooped me up after I followed a trail of treats into the computer room where my PTU is, and put me into the PTU with some more treats.  I scoffed at her efforts and didn't eat the then but I did not cry.  I never made a sound then, going, while there, or coming back.  Wait..I did say a small sound when the Tech took me out for my pawdicure.

I went so I could have my allergy shot.  My doctor always has continuing education and twelve weeks ago he had read about an allergy shot that was short acting, not as concerning to give a kitty and though called short acting, the effect paradoxically lasts a while.  Sure enough I didn't get to the extremes at the passing of 12 weeks but I was nearing my limit.

I feel like a MILLION green papers, furrieds!  I have been totally happy since that shot.  I had the zoomies for hours because I felt so good again with no itching.  I didn't lift a single foot since my shot  to scratch- and now I won't barber myself (gnawing off furs and swallowing and horking them) for weeks.  Then, back I go. I slept so well in all my naps when I got home again, and before bed that I was out like a light. And all night I was pressed into mom's stomach zonked. I stayed zonked when she turned over.  My sleep is so much better without all that barbering and scratching.

Here I am with my doctor. Mommy and I think he is, excuse the phrase, the cat's meow.  I look as annoyed as I am!  MY furs got rumpled and I had to groom myself as soon as I got home; after my treats that is.  I am a magnificent 10.2 pounds.  I gained 1/10th of a pound in 12 weeks so I am watching my figure.

That was my afternoon and evening and night.  Happy happy happy.

  1. That is very good news that you didn't have any bad effects from your allergy shot. Mum thinks I will soon need another one as when she pets me I bite my feet. I am not digging or biting myself apart from that, so mum hopes I can go a bit longer as it is only 2 months since the last and the shots seem to mess with my liver function levels. It is possible though that when my levels are slightly raised, that is what is causing the itchiness. The vet does blood tests every 6 months to keep an eye on them.

  4. Sorry Katie that you had to go to the vet but glad that allergy shot is working. Ask Mom to ask what the name of it is so we can ask our vet about it for a couple of these cats around here. Poor Orange boyzo is always scratching and biting. Hope you two have a fun Friday.

  13. Hi ya, Katie! We're glad that the shot made you feel better. The mom says she's interested in what kind of shot it was because Ernie has allergies and gets itchy sometimes, but the mom is reluctant to let the v-e-t give him the usual allergy shot (depo medrol). So Ernie only gets it when the itching gets really really bad.

We hope you have a good weekend!

Hi ya, Katie...I just wanted to thank you for the nice compliments you left me today. Y'know, I'm not really that petite...I weigh about 9 pounds...which I know isn't as much as you. I hope you have a good weekend.

  15. Katie, you are a very brave cat. To not cry during the transport to the V-E-T...that is really something. I'm very glad that the allergy shot worked so well for you!

In that bottom photo, I notice your ears are halfway back. So, not full-back mode where it is "watch out" time, but the "go no further than holding me gently, I'm very annoyed" mode.

  25. Aw Katie, you look gorgeous as ever, though you're scowling a little in the pic! You have to be careful when you're mad and make faces like that.. or your pretty kitty face could freeze that way. (That's something my Mom and Gran used to say to me a lot when i was in a sulky mood!) :) I'm glad you're not itchy/scratchy. And yes, your v-e-t looks very handsome!

  30. I am very glad that you are feeling good after your shot. See...sometimes it is necessary to go to the vet. That trail of treats trick probably wouldn't work more than once on Gracie. :-) Gracie & Millie's vet is about as old as me & Ron, and we are worried that he will retire before much longer.

  31. I wish you didn't have to get a regular shot, Katie, but it's so great how great you feel! Love that picture of you with your cute vet. :)

  46. Hi darling, Well, my Human seems to have acquired some kind of leak as her nosicle has been dripping all day. She crashed out last night after visiting like only two or three of our friends. I can see a few days ahead of her being more useless than usual. Sigh.

    XOXOXO

  47. Beautiful Katie Isabella... So sorry you had to go to the V-E-T. But it's great that he's the cat's meow and found something to help with your allergies. That is wonderful.

I'm sorry I've been MIA - work (the paying job) is kicking my booty with 14+ hour days to try to meet all the deadlines right now so it's hard for me to read the blogs very often.
