What Can the Matter Be?

When my human brother was here with my nephew, they played and played with me.  Especially the youngest one.  I loved it.  I played so much for that week and a day that I slept hard for almost 24 hours after they left except for meals and the box of course.  Here is the strange thing.  I just refuse to use my cat tree any more.

Mom rubbed catnip on it..sprayed it with catnip..gently placed me on it, played with my favorite fevver wand on it to tempt me and I come down within a second.

Nothing bad happened on it.  Matter of fact this is where they played with me each evening.  The tree is here in the computer room and if we gathered here, my nephew bean would get the fevvers and I would scramble around on the tree, in and out of the holes like a monkey playing.  That last evening they were here was the last time I have voluntarily gone to it.  I now just lay on the floor next to mama while she is working in here but never go to my tree.  I will scratch the carpeting on the tree but I won't climb or get on   at all.  Or I'll go lay on the floor in the spare room...or perhaps on mamma's bed maybe on my blankie..maybe just on the sheets.  Am I sads that they have gone do you think?

Mom plays with me every day same as she always has and I play with her too but still...I wonder if I miss my visitors.

Mom  is still marveling at how I glisten with healthy furs.  She hopes to be able to capture that gleam one day to show you.

The vishus deer ate all the birdie food so my TV was off for two days!  I think mom oughtta be fired, I really mean it.

Oh, I did enter the Counter Surfing Event since you suggested it, and the Single Sleep Position event as well.   Here is a front view of that same time on the sink. I didn't enter this view though.  Oh my.  I meant to schedule this for tomorrow.  Mom?  You are most definitely fired!

  1. First!!!!
We think our toys and nap places are like seasons. They come & go. What we like at one point isn't what we like at another, but eventually we always go back to it. Probably the same with your tree.

What do you eat to make you glisten so?

  2. You should definitely win a prize for that pose Miss Katie. xx

  4. I DO think you miss your guests, and I can't blame you. They sound like they were fun!

I guess making Bird TV go off the air is one reason why deer have such a bad name in the kitty community.

  5. We bet you do miss your guests but yet we sometimes ignore our tree too and then go back to it later so maybe you'll start playing on it again soon. Would you go on it if your blanket was on it or something like that?

  6. I'm sorry your play friends went away. You and Meredith both like attention. She spends all her time with my son who is home from college. When he goes back, I'm sure she'll be sad too.

By the way, you do a nifty arm over the sink ... Mere does one like that too only it's over the deck or shelf.

  7. This is parts of being us Katie we just like different things at a time and this more sedate house makes for more sedate sleeping places for right now until you rediscover your tree.

  8. Aw, I bet you do miss them. Poor girl. But I bet after a while, you'll just suddenly start playing with the tree again. That's the nature of kitties after all, as changeable as the wind!

  11. Mr. Ollie pants and the rest of the kitties take in turns being in the tree. Since heat rises I can only guess that since it's been so blue blazes hot here they are staying down where it's cooler. OR they could just be cats. Go figure.

  12. I guess you are just bored with the same old same old, Katie!!! Or you could be teasing just a little bit??

  13. Maybe you just need a change of scenery for a bit, Miss Katie.

  14. I'm sure you miss your play pals. I know my bro Russell gets all bummed whenever our favorite Aunt L and Uncle B have to leave after a fun visit. I think in time all will return to the way it was.

  15. We think we all have favourites and then leave them Katie. Lucy used to always play with her tunnel the most but she hasn't done at all the last few weeks.

  16. Dear Katie I: the tree will be there when you want it again. I know how it is: sometimes I want rides in my Bhumobile and I get them and then I get bored. Sometimes I feelz sorry fur the furless ones and pretend I want a ride and grit mai fangs and let them roll me around thinking they are pleasing me. You gotta give 'em a little bit of attention efurry once in a while. xxoo Bhu

  17. I'm sure you do miss your human brothers, but you probably have just lost interest temporarily in the cat tree. Gracie & Millie have completely lost interest in the "kittycat housing development" we built for them. We will put it in storage soon, and maybe bring it out again in the winter, when there are no doors or windows open. We know you would never actually fire your Mom Katie!

  18. One of two things, I think. Either you're all played out or, you're missing your brothers and whatnot. I think they should all come back. purrs

  19. I think that might be normal pretty one. I often don't go near my tree for weeks!

  20. Katie I expect you are missing having your boys to play with you on the tree. Maybe in time you'll get back to it. I have a tree too which I played on for about a year then all of a sudden one day Nope it didn't interest me any more. Now I'm back to getting on it. Does your tree have any toys on it? Mom got a wand toy, cut the wand off then tied it around the tree trunk so I can swat at it.
    Love your counter surfing pic

  21. We bet you DO miss them, Miss Katie. But we also think you'll get back up in the tree sometime in the not-so-distant future. :)

You are so good at counter surfing! Do you give lessons?

  22. I think it is cooler on the floor since you are having all this heat. Kitties can get hot too you know. I wouldn't worry, that play tree will be used again when it gets cooler outside.

  23. *sigh* firing mommies can be sooo time consuming. Then there's the posting of the open position and reviewing of new candidates, too....

  24. Sure sounds like you're missing your boys, Katie. Or could it be you've found a better spot to watch the vishus deer and birdies? Or are you waiting for me to come over so we could snuggle on the tree? xoxo

    Love, Your Boomie

  27. yep I agree with Sparkle. I think you still love your cat tree but you associate it with the fun that you had with your visitors and you might not want to get up on it until you get over missing them

We think you are being a quintessential lady who changes her mind. One day you will be racing up your cat tree again. Just when you feel like it.

  29. I think you are missing your company because you had such a good time while they were there. Even tho mom plays with you, it just isn't the same as you nephew playing with you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The big test is going to be if you play on it next time your brother and nephew are around. I think, though, you should start using it again when the weather cools off.

  31. We think when the HOTS come out...no one wants to play on their cat tree as much...and also...cats are fickle some days :)

  34. I always sleep on the cat tree, but for about 3 weeks I totally ignored it and slept down in the Ham-Mick. I am back sleeping on the tree again now.

Have you tried texting your humans?

Apparently that gets their attention, especially the young ones.
