Cinco de Mayo

If for no other reason, mom is celebrating Cinco de Mayo because she finally got a clue.  Yes Kitties and Woofies..she hauled me off to the v-e-t for a manicure and pedicure!  I had been scratching the carpet, the bed, anything I got my claws on.  Mom had the hammer come down and bonk her on the head and realized it had been a long time since my nails were cut.  I won't let her do it so she took me in.  I have not offered to claw anything since.  Mom's clue:  "Let them grow too long and when they stick as I walk..I am reminded to claw!

While I was there, one of the two hospital cats that live there got into my carrier.  Cliff is a beautiful Maine Coon. He filled my carrier up.  He was enjoying being there. BUT *I* was a hissing virago when I saw him in it as I was there to be deposited myself.  Cliff was not impressed with my display and had to be picked up and put on the floor.  My hissing knew no end when I was put in!  Cliff smells!  Mom took the fleecy "floor" out when we got home to wash away the Cliff smells.

That night when we went to bed, I was my usual sphinx on her chest but then, I elbowed my way upward and laid my head down on her mouth..my cheek was across her lips.  She got to kiss my cheek for a long time. She also got  her face tickled by my furs and whiskers for an equally long time.  She was hot and itchy but hey..worth it, right mom?  Heee heee.

  9. So glad your mom FINALLY figured out the business with the claws and the scratching. Peeps, huh? Anyway, it sounds like this Cliff guy is a little pushy. Happy to hear you put him in his place!

  11. Hard to know which I hate more, sticking to the carpet (or the couch, or the curtains, or even other cats!) or having my claws trimmed! I'm happy That Woman does them though, she gives 'good kitties' treats when the torture is over.

What a luxury treat to go to the vet for trimming your nails !
My mom just carry me to the bathroom and put her under her arm and then she trim my nails.

  14. Poor Katie! Maybe he was flirting with you. Our mom still tries to clip our claws. Don't tell her, but she needs to do it again.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to you, too. We'll see you at KC's house.

  15. That Cliff certainly sounds cheeky! I don't blame you for being hissed off, Katie. I'm glad your human figured out the deal with your claws - they can be so dense, can't they?

  24. Katie, our mom is really sneaking when she cuts our nails. She usual does it when we are sleeping. Yep, she wakes us up from a nice nap. And she uses regular nail clippers, not those fancy ones for cats. Sometimes we fight back, but she holds us real tight and we rarely bite her. If we get real wild, she stops. But the good part is that we always gets treats when she is done.

  25. Star says, "You are much too precious to have anything but a proper mani/pedi my sweet! But your story does remind me of my late brother Nicodemus the Evile Anti-Koala. Mom sometimes called him the Velcro Kitty (when she didn't call him Thief Cat) because his claws would also get too long and would make a pulling sound on the carpet. But he not only would let mom cut his nails, he would go to her and place his paw on her chest and wave it in her face insisting that she clip his claws ne-ow!"

  26. Happy Cinco de Mayo Day, Katie. You had manicure and pedicure professional done. Our human runs after us to do it. :)

  27. We glad your manicure and pedicure finally helped with your scratching Katie! We bet you feel better too. Cliff must have liked your smells way better than you liked his!

  28. IN your carrier? How DARE he, that cheeky boy! Thank Cod your Mommy washed his smell right out of there! It was really good of you to reward her as you did with that cheek-to-lips move. Did you see I got tossed out of KC's pawty for eating one of the voles? I couldn't help myself, honest.

  29. *ding ding ding*! Mystery solved! :)
We get our claws cut by Mommy every other week. We used to try to escape but we don't bother anymore. We found that she has perfected the "hold" and it is so much easier (and faster) to just let her clip, especially since we get treats after. YEAY!
Tutu says Cliff sounds a lot like that Dong Dong at the vet who sneaks into HER carrier!

  31. Hi, read your comment. Yes, Dad makes more mistakes with letting Audrey snag extra foods than Mom does. And he lets us have lots of deck time.

Mommy is not in Tennessee, she is in Missouri. That is where Audrey's first Mom lives.

  36. Dear Katie,
Does yous hear that smacking sound?
That is my Mommy smacking herself up the side of the head.
She is now going to cuts my claws and see if that stops ME!
No Kisses (me hates having my claws cut)

  37. It sounds like Cliff has no manners!

I'll bet your mom loved getting to kiss your soft little cheek.

  38. Regarding Cliff, I am reminded of an old saying: "In a cat's eyes, everything belongs to a cat." :-) It was rude of him to commandeer your carrier, but even so, other kitties do exist in the world! Anyway, I'm glad you got the scratching problemn solved. I'm also glad you and Mom had such a good snuggle...snuggly kitties are wonderful!

  39. Hee, Hee, Katie! We love to act loving then throw hairs in the mom's face. You should try it next time. Its nice to be loving but its better when there's some entertainment value!

  44. Hey, it's MONDAY. Your Human is slackin.

Oh Katie, no, it doesn't hurt! It just feels a little, well, odd. It doesn't yank out any furz that are still attached to you or anything, but it lifts out more loose furs than you ever IMAGINED having.

You know, for a litteh like yourself, who has such long and plentiful furz, the Furminator would prolly be a really good thing since there would be SO much less for you to, um, "ingest" and prolly would help you yak less.
