Fursday and the Tuxies are Stirring

Kitties, Google is being a so and so with their new-to-me style word identification. Or am I the only kitty who gets those words they have begun to put in that are so obscured and almost broken up looking?  Mom and I can't hardly make out the one word of the two they put in.  Mom said she can start making that happen on my bloggie too so you can see what she's talking about.  It makes it time consuming to post a comment.  Takes poor mom three tries sometimes.  Mom's not that old and her eyesight is good.  Those words are difficult to make out. (well for HER anyway).

Mom found out that the new litterbox she got me with a low side for entry(of the 4 sides) was not a good choice.  When she cleaned the kitchen floor, some of my pee was on the floor where I overshot. She didn't even know that till she moved the box so as to sweep. She rapidly changed the box to a standard all sides the same height.  So far so good.  Mom hates to get a hooded one in case it disturbs me to have to go in there not being able to see around me and all.

Here I am in another bathing beauty picture taken yesterday enjoying the rare sun bath.  My gently rounded tummy is showing to perfection. You can see the golden slit of my eye as I started to tell her to back off with the box!

  1. Katie, my Mom feels EXACTLY the same as yours about the new words. She gets it wrong at least twice before the comment can go through. She wishes more people would drop the word verification step. We have never had problems with spam even without the verification word.

Oh, my, about litter boxes! We have the hooded ones and they work well except Missy Audrey sometimes pees through the entry by mistake! Dad puts one of those Puppy Pads under the litter box projecting out the front, just in case. And sometimes it proves to have been necessary.

    Looking gorgeous there, girl!

  2. You look gawjeous, Miss Katie! Your furs gleam in the light.

We've tried every kind of box in our house and a high side open box seemed to be the best choice. Mind you, I had cats with asthma so a closed box was not a good option (so said the vet). I also had a pee problem with one. Didn't stop her from leaking at the back of the box. The seam where the top connected to the bottom simply became impossible to keep clean.

Simba is right. Wee-wee pads rock.

  4. Boy - I AGREE 100% with you on the new word verification stuff. it's impossible to read and M says she does it 3 times too. She's going to take it off my blog again - until there is a problem again. The last time she removed it, she did get spam after a week.

  5. I only get the occasional spam comment..maybe once every 5, 6 months. I just delete it.

  6. I hate those google words too.
I hope you and mom have a nice day. xx

  7. I can't see the words AT ALL! Nothing! Nada! Just a big ol' empty box! I tried to leave a comment on a couple of kitties' blogs and couldn't. I'm speechless! What's a kitty to do? Katie, you and I must join forces and stop this nonsense at once!

  8. I overshoot the box occasionally, too, but because I'm a big girl. Our human put a vinyl hall runner underneath the boxes to catch Sissy's flying litter and my misses. It works very well.

Lookin gorgeous in the sun, Katie!

  9. I agree pretty Katie, those words are awful and I have tried up to six times on some sites. I hate it, but I am probably going to have to skip commenting on the blogs that have them. Hey, good luck with the litter box, sometimes is takes the humans a little while to get it just right!

  10. yeah - some of those word thingies are just weird....

Mom has had to try a few boxes sometimes - hope this one works better. Have a good snooze in the sun....

  11. We hate those words too - they are so difficult to read and often Mum justs guesses. Are they on our bloggie too - could anyone tell us please.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

  12. You know, my kitties like to use the tubs that you get for under bed storage. Edges about 7 to 9 inches high and they are long and somewhat wide - keeps that litter INSIDE the box. And they clean up easy and are cheap. That and some
    SwissTrax.
    http://www.swisstrax.com/ribtrax-garage-tile.php
It has ribs that the litter can fall thru and you can sweep up - and keeps it from getting tracked all over. Check it out!

  13. Hmmm. Mom thinks I need a new litter box, now. I miss a lot.
Ya think, mom?? You thought this one would be easy for me to climb in with my stiff old legs. I'm trying to tell you I hate it!

  14. Katie, you look so lovely and comfy in your sun puddle!

  15. We THOUGHT we didn't have word verification, but discovered we DID. RED FACES here, but now we have taken it away. No, you don't have it here.

  16. We make our litter boxes from BIG under the bed plastic size tubs from Staples. We don't use the cover but the tub makes for a large box for us to pee in. Sometimes you have to try different sixes to find the right one.

  17. Katie you are giving the come on to Austin and he LURVES it!!! Dunno what it is you’ve got (apart from total cuteness in a tuxie furry coat), but he wants it!!! This could bode good for possible future cu**les

Re the word idents. Yes aren’t they awful! Takes much longer to leave a comment on blogs where they are used :(( I don’t have them and I find I get a few spam, but blogger recognises them immediately and they are chucked into the spam bin.

    Take care xox

  18. It is a good idea to keep an eye on those humans, Katie! :-)

We have had a high-side box since Margo & Hemingway got old enough to use one. When Millie was an itty-bitty kitty living in the bathroom (because she was very small and until Gracie became accustomed to her), she had her own special low-sided aluminum pan. Now we have an extra, slightly smaller litter box (both kitties use both boxes). The big one used to have a cover, but we suspected that Gracie did not like it, so we removed the cover, and there have been no problems with extra litter or other things going out of the box.

We find those word verification things annoying, too. We can usually figure them out, but it is still annoying.

  19. OH MY GOSH Mom says the new word verification which evidently happened overnight is so hard to read!! It is worse than the eye test when you go to renew your licenses.

Our Friend Remington's entire blog disappeared early today. Blogger must have some gremlins running through their system.
    Hugs Madi

  20. Hi Katie! You are so pretty there in the sun. We have a box with normal walls, not low but not overly high. Unfortunately, Lucy has pain in her knees, arthritis most likely, so she can't crouch anymore. She goes over the wall every time. We have liners all over the floor around it. We took off the top for the reason you stated. Lucy's pees goes through the crack anyway. This just started about a month ago.

We hate the new word verification but we've never had it on our blog. We removed it shortly after starting blogging. Yes, it takes multiple times to enter the word because it's so hard to see some of the letters.

Thanks for asking about Lucy. She has hyper thyroid but her blood pressure came down quite bit. Sadly, she's been going blind and it looks like her vision won't come back. The vet was more hopeful at first and is still trying something but we're accepting that it probably won't happen. I hate seeing her bump into things. It must be so confusing for her to not understand why she can't see. I'm waiting for a call from the vet today to see if anything has changed in her blood work (she had another test yesterday). She has the beginnings of CRF but I think the main thing we're dealing with is the thyroid. She's eating, drinking, purring and not acting sick. She just sleeps a lot.

I hope you two are having a wonderful day!

  21. The new word verification is hard but from experience, before I had the word verification, I had 200 spam comments a day. It would take me hours to get rid of them. But what Blogger has now is hard to do. But it doesn't bother me. Just one more thing to conquer.
Katie, you sure look comfy. Must be a great nap.

  22. Yep, word verification is bein a booger too! We cannot go a bit further without tellin you how breathless this photo of you leaves us! Katie Isabella in all her glory. Beautiful! xoxo

Pee Ess - we left you an award on our bloggie. your blog is one of our faves! xoxo

  23. My human and I HATE the new word verification! It really does slow things down, even though I usually get it right the first time (because I am so handy with my paws!). They need to go back to the old method - or do something better.

  24. Katie
We have never done word verification.
We have set our blog so that we can get rid of spammers 99.99999% of the time without them ever being able to make a comment appear. WE just found a blog with the 2 word verification and we probably will be leaving fewer comments on those blogs because we cannot get through most words.

    *sigh*
I think bloggers will see fewer comments on those that maintain the verification.

  27. I agree with Marg. I was getting all kinds of spam and creepy comments when I didn't have to word. I had removed it when your Mommy broke her wrist to make it easier. The only one I have problems with is the one on Marg's blog.

  28. About the litter boxes. Get one with a hood. I have the hood and enjoy the privacy. I can still kick litter out the front but TW cringes to think if she didn't had the hood. BTW, she started buying boxes with hoods because Nicky who came before me used to kick his poos on the floor and bat them all around the kitchen

  29. yep, the new word verification drives Mommy crazypants(ier)! It is hard.

Katie, we used to have high-sided rubbermaid tubs for boxes and they worked great--so overspill, if you know what we mean.

    ReplyDelete
  30. One last word from me. That's the same kind of word verification they use on the Ticketmaster site so TW has been typing them for a million years. We're so used to them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've never understood why they have to make it so darn hard to read those verification words.

Most of my kitties don't mind going inside a covered cat pan unless one of them is sitting on top pretending to be a door kitty checking for IDs or something.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You is beauteous, darling. So tender and delectable! See you later ;-)

We HATEHATEHATEHATE those new word verifications! They started appearing last night--TW can hardly read the second one--one is perfectly clear. But they are awful and we gave up on some comments because we kept getting it wrong. Isn't this supposed to be FUN??? What was wrong with the other words????

  33. well Katie I wuz following you on blogger an then I wuzn't an it wuzn't mai fawlt! iz sorry *purrrr*

  34. You look very content laying there, Katie. And thanks for getting rid of that stoopid word verification. It was driving our mom nutso!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mommy finded a litter box with sides that slopes in. Now me can't fling litter all over the place, like me used too. And, we has a old bathmat underneath. Mommy says it stops the litter from getting all over the place and she can throw it in the washer.
Mommy does not like the new word verification either.

  36. Katie, you look so comfy in the sunpuddle!

We have the hooded boxes because we tend to be messy. :)

  37. You're sitting very easy peasy there Katie. Its good that you have some sun. We have too much here though. san has one litter box for us that is low only on one side so my bruffer Megat who is furry old can get in easily :) Ithas worked furry well for us also as we are sometimes too lazy to jump in ourselves.

Tanaka fur the amigos and san

  39. Mom Paula is having problems with the new word verification, too. We don't have it on our blog and we don't have any problems with spam (not yet!). We have two litter boxes, one covered and one open. Mom Paula is going to get another covered one soon.

  40. Such a pretty girl, you have to expect the camera when you're so sweet!
We got a tub and cut down one side for a litter box and it works well, the high sides keep Star from scratching the walls, which is her wont, and the higher than regular litter pan side we cut keeps most of the litter inside. Not all, but we have a mat under it too.
Word thing... UGH! I think there's probably an angry mob trying to track down whoever decided to change that....

  41. We hate that new WV too. We only have it for posts more than 7 days old. Blogger picks up all our spam comments without publishing them so we don't see the need for it. We have wasted so much time on the 2 words that now if it doesn't work first time, we don't leave a comment. That is a lovely picture of you.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Katie Isabella! That litter box choosing is no joke! We have hoodie litter boxes but Jen took the flaps off of 'em. Fortunately everyone here is content with them.
